If you go in expecting a well-made, big-budget, Hollywood blockbuster starring Will Smith, you'll leave the theater happy.
If you go in expecting a thoughtful adaptation of the book... Don't go.

is it worth the price of admission or will a downloaded copy be just as good? |

Depends how much you like your computer graphics and panoramas of an empty New York. |

I haven't heard anyone make the obvious comparison to "Omega Man." Has no one seen that movie? |

I saw 'Omega Man' after reading the book and have it down as the worst ever adaptation. It will be interesting to see this one. |

It is worth the price of admission. A solid, well-built film that stays with you after you leave. |

I saw it last night and enjoyed it. Very nice panoramas of NYC. The ending, however, leaves a lot to be desired. |

The Omega Man was quite stupid. Hopefully, this one stays truer to the book. Except in the book, the Omega Man is executed............ |

I Am Legend, with Vincent Price, was a lot more thoughtful, if hammy. And from what I understand, a lot closer to the book and it's message.
Omega Man is Charlton Heston gritting his teeth and killing those damned hippies.
I am Legend, with Will Smith, was somewhere closer to 28 Days Later. It was pretty enjoyable and did convey the guy's isolation pretty well... but Cangel was right about the ending not being what it should have been. |

One review suggests it's a classic first hour and goes downhill from there.
I'm hesitant to go to a movie with ONE charcter and it doesnt help matters when the one person is Wull Smith. Then again it's a bit dry at the cinemas so they might get my 8 bucks yet. |

Seriously, is this a germane question for any movie? |

The movie has it's problems.
Will Smith's performance wasn't one of them. |

My wife and I went to that movie last night. During the film we looked at each other in disbelief that we were watching a zombie movie. Stoooopid! |
