One of his 'dinner buddies' in the white supremacist movement group called the American National Socialist Workers Party has come out (of the woodwork) to state definitively how active Ron Paul has been in the white supremacist movement. That is, if you believe Mr. White, the leader of that party who made this announcement
Quote: |
Both Congressman Paul and his aides regularly meet with members of the Stormfront set, American Renaissance, the Institute for Historic Review, and others at the Tara Thai restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, usually on Wednesdays. This is part of a dinner that was originally organized by Pat Buchanan, Sam Francis and Joe Sobran, and has since been mostly taken over by the Council of Conservative Citizens. |
But wait, there's more...
Paul discussed on Meet the Press about his POV that Lincoln started the Civil War. http://www.bentcorner.com/2007/12/26/ron-paul-thinks-abraham-lincoln-started-the-civil-war/
On another show called Morning Joe, he called in to defend his belief, saying that the co-hosts "did not read the right history books."
http://www.bentcorner.com/2007/12/27/ron-paul-really-puts-his-foot-in-his-mouth-on-msnbc/
Who wrote the right history books in Ron Paul's opinion?
Thomas DiLorenzo, a notorious anti-semitic writer who blamed the Civil War on a Jewish banking conspiracy.

Told you he was crazy. |

the states have/had the right to leave the union under the 10th amendment. they left. they became their own country. that country was invaded by the united states of america. who was president when this invasion began? lincoln. it is no great stretch to say that the commander-in-chief of the military that invades a sovereign country starts a war.
wouldn't be the last time lincoln wiped his feet with the constitution. |

Dude, your own link sends you to this page:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/27/pageoneplus/27correx.html
Where the New York Times issued a retraction on the article in mention.
Not to mention the fact that Ron Paul has mused about running together with Walter Williams:
(from an interview back in May)
Quote: |
Sleuth: If you were to defy the polls and the odds and win the nomination, who would be your running mate?
Paul: Well, I don't know, but if I won, you know, I'd want a recount. You know, lets be certain about what's going on here.
But a running mate. Somebody like Walter Williams. Walter Williams is a very good economist. John Stossel, John Stossel would be good. |
Assuming you don't know who Walter Williams is, here's his picture:
Better luck next time. |

Should you be stating what is very much a minority opinion as if it were a fact? |

I don't think Ron Paul is a racist but It seems clear he is willing to accept their support and work with them on other issues. He respects their right to be racist and doesn't hold it against them in a major way for being so. |

if so, it is a shame that knowledge of the constitution and using it as a reference point places me in the minority amongst american citizens.
10th amendment, check it out. |

Show us some scholarly writings that support your minority opinion. It wouldn't hurt to start with some Supreme Court decisions that support your view, but don't feel limited to only SC decisions. |

no. let's use the constitution. show me, where in the constitution state(s) did not have a right to secede. it is a cut and dried issue. that you want scholars illustrates the need for obsfucation.
the 10th amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited to it by the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
where in the constution is it spelled out that states could not voluntarily leave a union they voluntarily entered? |

The OP is great!
The anti-RP people are starting to feel so threatened by his candidacy that they are looking for something, ANYTHING, whith which to try to derail it.
What's that old saying? "First they ignore you, then they marginalize you, then they attack you, then you win." It looks like we're at Step Three already! |

only a constitutional scholar can answer this question (and they have) and you are not one. |

In other words, you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Any biblethumper can sit around and dream up his own interpretation, hire a store front and open a church. Ya don't run a country the same way.
IF your interpretation were correct, then a county, city or family could declare itself independent at any time. |
