I'm really a big fan of technology and shout it out whenever I can, that educators can't afford NOT to use technology, especially when teaching language. Why? Well mostly because of efficacy when dealing with large numbers and also helping support students to become self-sufficient and empowered learners (and correctors). Lots of other reasons including the plain fact that the young respond and are "digital natives".
Here is a cool presentation about the famous one lap top / child program of Negroponte. If you have complaints about your large public school class size here, take a look and you'll feel a little better.
Also, if you have used the computer lab in your school to teach language, I'd love to hear about your experience(s). Very under utilized here and it would really allow the teacher to teach conversation in small groups, productively if they were used.
Lots of technology on EFL Classroom 2.0 and other presentations such as this. http://eflclassroom.ning.com
