Anyone have knowledge of or experience with this uni?

I'm close to signing a contract with them, but I seem to be getting the run around when I ask to talk to current teachers. Not sure if the question is being ignored or just overlooked through incompetence.

Interesting that many of the "native speakers" don't have university e-mail addresses and the links to their homepages are dead...

huh?

not uncommon to have non uni accounts, given the occasional send/receive problems between ac.kr accounts and many western servers (ex. hotmail, yahoo, etc.)

the links there aren't homepages. it's javascript for sending email (little thing which looks like an envelop). and they aren't dead either. you just have to be logged into the uni's website in order to use it.

might want to try reading the korean first before blowing someone out of the water for taking the time to do a search to help out another poster.

No, I'm just concerned that they aren't treated as "real" teachers there. And personally, I'd rather have a "real" Korean university e-mail address, as I'm still finding lots of blocks on Korean-foreign e-mail exchanges. (Especially with Korean academic mail servers.)

And I wasn't talking about the envelope icons for the e-mail addresses, but rather the house icons which, in most of the Korean professors' cases, link to their homepages.

no use in arguing the homepage links. unis give them out. hardly any of the native speakers i know can be arsed to build a website, and then link. there are only two korean professors on there with 'em anyway.

if you know how the use the korean search on that site, you can easily see the list of native speakers and which classes they taught this (now past) semester.

Laughing like teaching the shakespeare classes, doing research, and having tenure, or you mean doing double time in an attached continuing ed center? the former is rare; the latter is virtually the norm now at most places.

again, huh? that's what i said. korean uni adds don't like to play nice with foreign servers (hence why many native speakers use foreign servers and cut out all the hassles).

there are two guys with uni addresses on that site, and the rest with other servers. sure RobinH will send out the appropriate emails and find out the real scoop.

i vote for an admin overlooking it through incompetence.

Could be like our college, where the whole webpage was revamped and the english side of things has been updated.

We were offered college email accounts, but none of us took them up on it. Too much of a hassle when you already factor in that we already have our own gmail, hotmail or yahoo accounts.

i gave up my uni. addy. in favor of my private one. the blocks and too much spam mail made it annoying to maintain.

I, too, stopped using my last uni email--a total spam magnet.

As far as the wagooks not having webpages, meh. I have my own webpage for my own students. I don't care if the wagook teachers have one or not, or if the uni even cares. It's nice to get support, but, I'd be suprised if the admin at my last uni even knew there were foreigners teaching there.

What are work conditions like for EFL instructors at Dongduk Women's University?
Who exactly is in charge of their English/EFL program?

I find it a bit odd that those without identifiable majors are just listed as TESOL.
