I've been reading that phrase more and more as I follow a few international news stories.

"50 people were killed, including women and children," or something similar is often the phrase following incidents of violence.

I don't know if I'm growing conservative as I get older or what, but I find this phrase outmoded, outdated and offensive/reprehensible.

I can understand mentioning that children were killed, but the phrase women and children, needs to come to a halt. It's demeaning toward women, but more than that it's repugnant in it's treatment of men.

A: Oh, 45 people were killed yesterday
B: yeah, that's normal now days,
A: Yes, but women and children were killed
B: That's horrible!!!

What, the deaths of 45 men is what, acceptable, expected, fine and dandy?

How does this repugnance of yours make you more conservative? Looks more politically correct to me.
