Do you think the Koreans are more like the Japanese, Chinese or, as I've heeard before, the Latinos?

Would anyone agree that they are the Latinos of Asia?

The Philippines are generally referred to as a Latin or Hispanic. Korea is prolly more like the Irish, if only for their love of the firewater and a good shouting match.

Mexicans take an afternoon siesta.

Koreans nap at work in the morning to kill off the hangover.

Also, Koreans hate cilantro.

Nah, they're not Latino. Not one bit.

They are nothing whatsoever alike. I have visited France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Romania and I submit that there's no similarity at all.

Koreans are like Latinos.... I couldn't think of a more false statement. When I think Latinos I think passion. I don't think I would ever tie the word "passion" to Korea.

I'd go for the Irish. Love to drink, love to fight. Some nice looking women. Have reputations for being friendly. Kinda small and unimportant; if either one dropped off the map I don't think too many would notice.

What, with money? I wish it was the case with my girlfriend. I don't notice that one at all except for my boss saving money by buying used board markers and screwing me outta pension.

And the black appetite for fried chicken and watermelon, just to complete the racial stereotype trifecta there.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

For me, if any comparison is to be made, I would go with the "Irish" one mentioned above.

While many of the attitudes of the people aren't like the Japanese, their cultural behaviours are quite similar.

Of all of their neighbors, I think they share more with the Japanese, would anyone agree with that?

But Latinos? ..... Koreans can be hot tempered like Latinos, but do they have the "Passion" that latinos are known for?

The Irish it is!

The North-South dispute, their love of song, the scarcity of wildlife, their diet based on cabbage and a carbohydrate.

I see it. An analogy only goes so far, of course, but the Korean-Irish parallel goes farther than any others I can think of.

I think I can agree with this too - the dancing, singing and also family is very imporant to them.

I think it is the legacy of Spanish colonialism. Lots of people from there have Spanish names, for example.

The Phillippines could be classed as a Latino nation in my opinion - the culture is very similar to Mexico. (whose viceroy ruled the islands when it was part of the Spanish crown)

I've actually heard someone say this before. He was a Korean American, in fact! He said that Koreans were the Mexicans of Asia.

He was half kidding, half trying to fit-in, I think. When he made that statement, it wasn't meant to be taken literally. The context was joking session between other guy of different cultures. They usually like to poke fun of each other by adding their own racist jokes. In this case he was demeaning the Mexican and himself.
