If you've had enough bibinbap and kimchichigae, then here's a good option for you:
Get yourself some amazing tasty Indian curry over at Taj Palace in Itaewon. They cook up some of the best curries that I have ever had. The nan bread is light and crispy. The restaurant is tasteful and quiet so you can take a date or your friends over there for a nice meal. The prices are moderate so they won't break your pocketbook either.
To get there, you get out of Itaewon Station at exit 3, walk past Starbucks to the hip hop clothing store on the corner. Turn right. Walk up the street 1 block and Taj Palace is on your right - second floor. |

Next to the Thai restaurant in the basement of a tall building? We went there too and it was excellent. |

Yep. I've been there nine times in five years and I dang can't remember the name. You can't miss the sign for it if you go to the aquarium and look out toward the street. |

in the big restaurant/shopping complex? the decor is nice, but the food is overpriced and standard.
you've gotta make it to the north end of the country, van islander!
speaking of indian / asian food, has anyone made a trip out to ansan to check out the food scene? with all the 3d workers out there, i've gotta imagine there's some great, authentic, and cheap dining options... |

I've been to Seoul a couple dozen times, once every month or so for years, and I make it a habit to eat at only Thai, Mexican or Indian restaurants when I visit, so I have compared the Itaewon joints with the Haeundae place, and sorry: Itaewon comes up short, in every department of food (especially Mexican - uggh... though Gangnam has a good place) except Middle Eastern fare.
If you want Indian, Itaewon is nothing special imo. Go to Ganga. |

I've been to the Ganga in Haeundae three times and the one in downtown Seoul about the same. There are two or three others. The food is good. One time I had terrible service at the one in Haeundae. They lost our order or something. I do think they are over-priced.
I've only eaten at the Taj Palace once so far, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly and prompt. Had a nice chat with the Kashmiri couple who run it. The prices were moderate compared to the other Indian restaurants I've eaten at.
My personal favorite though is Samakhan in Bundang; the prices are similar to Ganga but the quality is even higher in my opinion. Their chili chicken is divine. The menu is huge...95 dishes, I think. |
