Hi there,
After doing some research on the internet, this is what I've come up with for our 3 night self-drive tour of Jeju in January. Please let me know if I've left anything off that might also be worth seeing, or if anything that I've put sounds a little strange! We're not really into hiking, folk villages, the night life, udo island or the elephant show. Thanks!
Friday
1) Arrive at Jeju around lunchtime after ferry ride from Yeosu/Wando.
2) Visit Manjanggul cave.
3) Head to Jongdal-ri viewpoint to see Seongsan crater. Climb up Seongsan to watch sunset.
Sleep in a motel nearby Seongsan.
Saturday
1) Mini-Mini Land (Or is the mini-land in the west better??)
2) Possibly squeeze in Songamburi crater.
3) Drive scenic road 11 (5-16) passed Mt. Halla (we're not interested in the hiking as my mom will be with us)
4) After lunch - Submarine tour (anyone know how much this costs??)
5) Possibly ancient lava estuary ride (Anyone know if this is worth it, or how much it costs?)
6) Coastal drive at sunset - see Jeongbang falls, Jusangjeolli cliff
7) Lotte hotel Volcano fountain show at 20:30
Sleep in a motel in Seogwipo city
Sunday
1) Teddy bear museum
2) Chocolate museum
3) Bunjae Artpia garden
4) O' sulloc tea museum
Sleep nearby.
Monday
1) Happy town acrobats (anybody know how much this costs?)
2) Possibly visit Hallim park if time allows (although, is this very different to what we would have seen already?)
3) Drive along volcanic coast (Aewol to Hagwi-ri)
Board ferry back to Yeosu in the evening.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanx! |

Don't forget the waterfalls on the south side. One of them is the only falls in Asia to fall into the ocean. Also, there are some unique lava rock formations, pillars in the shape of hexagons I believe, that are nice to visit. I really enjoyed Jejudo when traveling by car. I didn't go to those touristy museums, but I'm an outdoors person and slept on the beaches and camped in the mountains when I was there. Hallim park is cool and the beach across the street (almost) is one of the nicer ones on the island.
Want to be in an awkward situation with the family? Go to Loveland park. |

Should you book accommodation before you leave? I was thinking of taking the same trip at the end of December and I wouldn't want to get stuck with no vacancies. Thanks for the info! |

Yes! And I agree with Bibbitybop: drop by Hyeopjae beach nearby.
And drive around the northwest coast of the island, there are some great cliff and rocky wave action that's very nice. In fact, do the entire coastal drive, off the main highway on the northside of the island, it is well worth it. Ditch the maps and stay close to the coast, you won't regret it. Use the maps just for the inland places and museums and such. |

The submarine tour I took out there cost 50,000 won, and it was pretty nice.
I wasn't impressed with the chocolate museum at all. There wasn't very much chocolate, mostly little toy antiques and christmas memorabilia having very little to do with chocolate. The exterior of the building looks cool, though (I think it's made of lava) and it's a really small museum...so you could go just to see it, and to say you went.
Hallim Park was well worth the visit. Part of it is like a folk-village, but there are some really cool gardens there, with some really exotic plant life,(plus the biggest aloe plant I've ever seen). I think it's different from the rest of the island, and worth your time...
The sunrise peak on the eastern end of the island was really beautiful, and you can see lots of volcanoes from the top of it...
Definitely don't go to Loveland if you're with your mom!
to partialtone: I don't think there's any need to book before you go. There are cheap love motels everywhere... 20-30k a night. I had no trouble finding places. |

There's an erotic theme park with hot looking Korean women who are butt naked jumping up and down on huge inflated phalluses. You can take pictures too. |

yeah loveland isn't where the live women are jumping up and down, but about 10 minutes south of the airport. its pretty insane, you'll probably never see a larger shaft in your life. |

We plan to spend a few days the week of Feb. 4, 08 on Jeju island. Will it be crowded because of the Natl vacation? Should we make reservations? Anyone have the name and number of a travel agent for Jeju? Thanks |

Years ago, I climbed Halla-san. It was quite a breath-taking view at 7am in the morning.
But I've heard that they don't allow you to go to the top anymore Anyone know if that's true? |
