I now have my letter of release. Do i just have to go to immigration and hand it over? What is the procedure?

I gave it to my new employer with my degree and transcript for them to get me my new e-3 visa # and they took care of it initially.

I just spoke with my new school where I will be transfering my Visa to. They said that I cannot do it at immigration. The new school must do it. Don't know if it is true...... but that's what they said. Fine by me, saves me a trip to immi.

Sadly, a lot of what I heard of ESL in Korea is true [I used to laugh, and nod my head in comprehension when I was in Thailand, but Thai's aren't this way by a league], and I would take most what you are told with a grain of salt.

I would suggest having the LOR translated - you can do it yourself on altavisa's babelfish, and keep the original with you.

Immigration may have cancelled your visa, in which case you may have an order exit stipulating a date of departure, after which you'll be the one paying the fines.

Aside from that, even with a LOR you must have the visa set at the new employers name before you can start working. This is very important, because I have had an experience where I worked for a month, the hokwan dilly dallied, and my visa was not altered on time, whereupon I had to leave the country, and not in a cheap way. I was paid, of course, but the hogwan tried to dock half of the visa run's cost...
I took my all money, after a very long argument, and walked off.

Why do it to yourself?
