Just something I'm aware of: January 23 will mark the 40th anniversary of the Pueblo Incident

I just recently became aware of this at all, but it sure is interesting that NK still hasn't been asked to surrender the USS Pueblo, which is still commissioned in the US Navy. I ask myself why the US has never demanded it back, and can't believe that it's not important enough, simply as property of the US. Maybe there would be an incident. Maybe it will be brought up if the US ever really wants to start something (never underestimate the power of government to use any means available to start something). From all I read, it's still being used to propagandize the general NK populace against imperialism.
Anyway, here's the wiki link if you're interested:

In my opinion if NK wouldnt surrender the Pueblo and I was the President i'd order a raid to sink it.
Id rather see one of our ships destroyed then sit in the hands of a totalitarian regime like Kims and used for propoganda. |

Because the damage has already been done. The N.Koreans stole valuable communications deciphering equipment which they sold to the Russians. With this information, the Russians found out about all the subsea acoustic sensors that the US had planted around the narrow waterways of the world to detect Russian submarines and ships.
So the USS Pueblo is now useless, just a regular boat. |

And it'd be a heck of a fight for 50 year old scrap metal. |

Actually, just this past year, it became somewhat of an issue. For the past dozen years, I worked to get a flag returned to Korea that was captured 136 years ago by the U.S. Last spring, Senator Wayne Allard of Colorado tried linking the return of the flag to the return of the Pueblo. Although it brought international attention to the flag issue (even Condoleeza Rice became involved), the South Korean gov't was not very happy with the idea. The idea fortunately died and SK got the flag back anyway.
Sen. Allard's original idea:
