You may get hassled at check-in time in Korea if you don't have an exit ticket from the Philippines.

Philippine immigration won't check.

If you need a cheap exit ticket, you can get one way tickets on-line from Cebu Pacific going from Cebu to HongKong for as little as p999 (about $25) (non-refundable).

Good to know. Relieved.

What I didn't know was the cheap exit ticket to Hong kong.
I think I want to extend my holiday !

They will check. I've flown on 50 or so one-way tickets in the world. I've only been asked stopped twice for doing so, and once was at the Manila Airport.

However, basically what Tom said, I had to go by an onward ticket to Hong Kong (which I made sure was refundable and promptly canceled the next day).

TigerBeer and ttompatz, thanks .

We have tentatively decided to just go to Hong Kong for a few days of shopping, then fly back to Seoul, if I dont have to return to Canada.

It's easy enough to make a fake ticket receipt. I hypothetically have a word document that is basically a cut-n-paste from Asiana's online ticket purchase confirmation page. You could also take any other ticket confirmation from any other carrier from any other flight. Simply change the flight numbers, dates, departure, arrival, and other pertinent info so that it looks accurate for your situation. Generally it will only be checked by the ticket counter person at check-in, and they're not going to verify the validity of any of it.
