I'd like to hear the other women on here put in their two cents worth. I don't really need to hear from the Western guys who are just going to dis the Korean men, anyway.
I've had some HORRENDOUS experiences with Korean men, but I've also met some real sweethearts.
In general, I find that the best point of the men I've gone out with is that they are even more romantic than me! I love getting cards and flowers and even sexy underwear (well, if it wasn't an A cup I'd be happier, they claim the sexy stuff only comes in A cup!). It's really nice to have that sort of constant reminder that they really really were thinking of you when you weren't together! |

I've heard Korean men are indeed romantic. One of my private students requested I download some Barry white the other day for him to play to his girlfriend. What a nice idea i thought. (Incidentally Barry died the next morning.) Thats strange, because I'd never try to mesmerise my gal with specially chosen music It'd be too much like a set up for me.
I've also heard a few times that their romantic adventures end as soon as they've secured a girls hand at the altar. |

I've definately seen and heard of terrible experiences with Korean men, but have never personally experienced it.
I love the good ones because they -
Ride home with you in the taxi and walk you to your door to make sure you get home safe.
Offer you their jacket on a chilly evening.
Send supportive e-mails to tell you to keep your chin up or tell you that they love and appreciate you.
Always come up with some spur in the moment romantic gesture like a flower in your hair on a mountain walk.
Cook you dinner when you come home tired.
Tell you that you are beautiful.
Sit with you in the hospital and hold your hand as you fall asleep. (That's when I knew I found the man for me!)
Smell pretty good.
Have those cute ears that are so easy to nibble on because of those short cuts.
Nice long, smooth forearms.
Smooth, hairless chests.
Silky black hair.
I could go on, but you are probably getting the picture. |

Little Mixed Girl,
I had the same problem when I was new to Korea- I couldn't tell if they were scopeable age or not (back then I was only 26 Korean Age myself). Also, I didn't realize -quite- how hung up Koreans were about age.
The worst was when I still couldn't speak Korean well enough to know if the only Korean speaking guys sounded like mature good people, or jerks. I got involved with a couple of baddies that probably anyone who understood all their words would have known to stay away from... |

My hairy hubby does some of the cutie things, too. It is nice to have THE soul mate. |

This part sounds like a teenaged boy. A REAL MAN has chest hair as think as the Canadian woods! Arr...
But of all of the Korean guys I know or have know, I'd be willing to introduce most of them to my sister. Of course, she'd have them for breakfast for being such softies... regardless, Korean guys are alright in my books.
Unless they're running a hagwon, then there's a good chance they may be slime. |

I really can't comment on the whole Korean male thing, (except for what I've observed day-to-day in public), but I'm with Trinny when she says that her sweetie has plenty of romantic tricks up his (hairy) sleeve. I think the Korean guys are probably as capable of it as any others. Except for the smooth arms and chest anae could be describing my husband, who still surprises me constantly with his loving, romantic, and considerate behavior. (MOST of the time, we have our 'ggrrrrr' moments, too!) Again, I have to agree when Trinny says that when you find THE right man it doesn't matter where he's from or how hair/y/less he is. I know, I sound pathetic, I'm seeking help with that!!! |

Korean men, in general, aren't my type; I find them to be ...clammy - all that smooth, hairless skin. I don't know. Though they do seem to be more sensitive and attentive than the average Western fellow. And forget about Indian men (though they're the sexiest on the planet) - the culture is so steeped in strict protocol that if a woman makes her interest known she's dishonourable. Sigh. No wonder they all ignore me!

PS - I know Indian men weren't really the topic, but I had to put my predictable, Sub-continental comment in somewhere. |

Ha ha....
I swear if I could find a guy who was interested in me, BUT DIDN'T ACT LIKE I WAS THE LAST GIRL ON EARTH when he was trying to get to know me, either as a friend or a potential girlfriend or whatever, that would make my day.
The ones who treat me normally, those are the guys I tend to be interested in, but that's not how it seems to work here! It's just not reciprocated and there doesn't seem to be any thoughts of "let me take the time to get to know you."
I really dislike what seems to be the all or nothing mentality the guys here have: either they really like you and beat you over the head with it, which to me seems a *little* desperate, or they don't like you "*like that*" and keep you at arm's length. |

I like a lot of things about Korean guys too--although my liking of men is not limited to korean guys--i'm just lucky enough to have found the right one for me.
A couple of things I like are:
--Black hair and dark eyes (something I've always liked in any guy)
--Their respectful attitudes toward their elders (and in the case of my boyfriend toward pretty much everyone).
--Also their loyalty and closeness to their friends.
--I also like that there seems not to be so much homophobia and 'macho'-type posturing among the young Korean men I know. (This can be attributed somewhat to many people's denial that homoesexuals exist in Korea--but nowadays many Koreans do admit they exist and I don't see them quitting their trips to the sauna or freaking out over it.)
--The good aftermath of their time in the military (i.e. knowing how to cook, iron, clean efficiently, and take orders from me--haha just a joke).
There are more, but many have been mentioned already. |

why korean men aren't so bad...hmm
when they clear their throat loudly summoning up for all to hear that telling load of phlegm with which to say 'yankee (caucasian) go home' they politely expel it to the opposite side to which you are. so you don't walk in it, but get the message
their intractable belief in their superiority contrasts nicely with their conviction all foreigners are absolutely inferior
but seriously, i was asking for directions today on a weekend motorbike tour and some of them were great. the most notable was a 'poet' working in a gas station. i pulled up, and mispronounced my destination. he looked at me like a turtle, then directed i go into the gas station office where he sat. he was in the middle of a book, had the internet to surf on his right, like a gas station confucious, and as serene as a turtle basking. he serenely and patiently made a map. drew a line, and on that divisions. between intersections, marked as short perpendicular lines, he marked off the meters. say, '400m.'. for the river bridge he drew wavy lines for water. and so on. he was completely calm, focused, and kind.
another guy, selling sneakers off the back of his bongo, also drew a map. he saw i was looking at a roadmap and walked over. he went back for some paper and using a big black marker indicated the backtrack, and turn to take right once through the tunnel again, and the way to go at the intersection.
so thanks, korean guys. |

Ohh could it be that a western man is jealous because some western women aren't showing an interest in them.
