For those in Seoul I got email yesterday from Costco introducing their new delivery service.

http://www.hellocostco.com/

While they don't have everything it saves me time and money as most the stuff I buy there is on the lists.

I am trying it and will let everyone know how it works.

Looks to be an unaffiliated company (possibly person or couple people) that just goes to Costco and buys the stuff you want, then drives it over to your place.

Are the prices marked up? Because the delivery is so cheap (2,500 a box) I can't imagine they make any money just off that.

I thought it was spam mail, marked it as such and promptly deleted it.

The one I tried was in English and for some people that is a plus. The other ones seem to have more products but a bit harder to navigate as they are pretty much in Korean.

Looks like a fake web site to get credit card information or something...it really doesn't look legit. I am going to wait till someone else tests the water before I will start plugging my info into it.
It appears to take bank deposits as payment...but I don't know.

Mark up isn't much at all. Cereal is about the same price and so are chicken breasts and raisins. I got my stuff today.

Costco has a lot of great items from America you can't get any other way here, unless you're on a military base. Too bad there is not one single Costco in the southern part of the country. It would be ideal to have a store in Busan and one Gwangju or Mokpo.

The website you gave looks legitimate, but I would go get the stuff myself on a Saturday or Sunday being able bodied. Great service for physically challenged people or anyone looking to save time.

My new English-speaking church in Ulsan does a costco run once a month. The next one is the last Saturday of this month. We also do a run to an orphanage in Busan once a month (starting again in October), and that run is accompanied by shopping at Nampodong (spelling? )

If you go to the 'Services' part of the site, it has some rules. One part looks like this:

3. If you opened the package of food, you can't get a refund.

- Even if you buy food at a market, you can't get a refund if you already opened it. So if you already open
-ed it, Hello Costco doesn't returen the price paid or exchange the product.

4. Please order after thinking about it carefully~ ^.^
- Because of the nature of foods, You can get a refund or exchange by just changing your mind. Please be aware this and thanks for using our service. :D

I really don't understand what part of this looks illegitimate to you.

Mark up on goods is about 5 to 7%. They charged 2,500 won for one box. I bought a bag of frozen chicken breasts and raviolis and both were in special styrofoam packing with freezer packs. (I bought other stuff too but I was most concerned about the frozen stuff)

I was surprised it arrived the next day. As long as you pay before 2 p.m. you get the next day except weekends.

The site is in English.

I was impressed.

Is it just me, or does this site

http://www.hellocostco.com/

tie up your computer, churning your cpu at 100 percent?

This isn't the first Korean website I've seen this or similar with.

And that Naver site sure does make it hard to escape from when the schools use it as a home page.
