Do F-2 visa holders have to go through the medical test and criminal record check? I was told by the Korean embassy the new regulations apply only to E-2 visa holders. However, a part time job at a public school is demanding these from me. I expalined what the embassy told me, but they seemed skeptical.

Also, as an F visa holder working over 10 jobs, do I have to give tests to all my jobs if they ask, or do I get a copy of my test results that I can hand out like my CV.

I had to do it last year to work for SMOE, and I'm an F2-1 visa holder. It's stupid, redundant, and if you've been in Korea for more than 3-4 years, you shouldn't be getting criminal record checks from abroad, you should be getting them HERE just because that's where you've been living for the past ...however long. It just makes more sense. I refuse to be treated by ANYONE like I'm a slave and subject to their stupid silly rules.

Nothing wrong with having to do it.

I'd be sure to flop a big, clear plastic baggie with a turd in it on the principal's desk, though.

Better yet, an envelope. Koreans use paper envelopes.

Jobs can require a CRC, and if they do, just go the local police and have them do it there. If you are questioned about it, then simply tell them that the requirements for CRC do not include F2-1 and if they are inclined to get one, they can do so at their expense and time. Remember, the Korean schools will pull whatever they can get away with to take control and have the upper hand. You can respond civilly and still get your point across that you know they are playing games with you.

The same is true with the medical checks. The schools are supposed to be paying for those anyway, at least in the public schools.

F visa holders already have a visa. Why would people who already have a visa have to jump through hoops to get something they already have?

As Tompatz said, it's a job requirement not a visa one. All teachers that work in the public system have to do the same.
