So after 1.5 years in Korea and various trips around Asia, I decided that it was time to head back home to Edmonton (Sherwood park actually) to visit the family for a while. Overall impression: boring, boring, boring.
I love hiking but the only place to go is Elk Island National Park without a 5 hour drive. I love running but the only place to go without driving a ways is around the suburbs...the the while breathing in the refinery smoke. And friends: not many left after leaving Edmonton when I was 18. Cable TV: I was only home for 3 weeks and was already starting to see repeats. Food: okay, but bland. I need my gochu-jang. And eating out in restaurants is outrageously expensive.
I was pretty much missing Korea the moment I stepped on the airplane at Incheon. Disturbing, but true. Maybe a lifer? |

Don't be alarmed. This is actually quite common.
Try spending Christmas on Ko Samui next time. |

I think I've isolated your problem. Edmonton is one of the most boring cities in Canada. Next time, try Montreal or Vancouver. Even Halifax is better than Edmonton. |

| Even sadder is that Edmonton is a tourist destination for people from Saskatchewan. Edmonton makes an exciting trip for saskies! |
