I had a major crush on her when she was Bob Newhart's wife on the original series. But she was also really good as the schoolteacher in The Birds.

Just saw this news over on the Off-Topic Forum. Sad. She had a sexy voice and was pretty hot in her time. I also had a crush on her. I think it was the voice. Kinda husky for a woman.

I love how it's considered news by some when a minor celebrity dies. Or even a major celebrity. Hell, I didn't bat an eye when Ford died. Death isn't news, unless it's an odd death. Tragic, yes, news, no.

Though as there are always exceptions I cried a little and got drunk when Vonnegut died. And it was coffee flavored beer.

I love when people deem a thread on a current event not a current event. Death is an event? Check. Was the death current? Check. Okay, thread is in the proper forum! Now, subject line of interest to you? Yes. Click and read. No? Just another Ron Paul thread? Move on. Move on.

I don't really care what forum it goes in, though these invariably end up both in the CE and OT forum. And I do ignore them. I commented because I found it funny that someone that obscure rated a post. It's only slightly better than pulling and posting obits from the local paper. Some dude died, bummer.

Was she the blonde or the dark haired actress?

She's the dark-haired one.
Czarjorge:

A minor celebrity? Perhaps. But if you're of a certain age she was a mainstay of film & TV for many years. So, no, it's not the same as picking a name out of the obits from Saskatoon "Star-Phoenix." Hell, you want a minor celebrity? How about Don Adams...about as an obscure an actor as you'll find. Yet when the "Get Smart" star died a few years ago, fans of a certain age lamented his passing. What the hell's wrong w/that?

As MM2 said, move on mate...move on.

Because I think people think their current event will bring out the whiners.

I always make a distinction in these kinds of stories. If the death of the person only affects friends and family, then it isn't news. It's a private concern. If it's a a death with some kind of social issue, then its a current event. If it's a celebrity death, it's a public affairs anouncement. Not exactly a current event, put an event of fairly wide-spread interest.

OK, Ya-ta, but then where should an item like this be put? There ARE many actors, writers, directors, etc., etc., that meant something in many mundane lives and if one them kicks the bucket, I think it's worth mentioning.

MM2 said it best in his first post.
