Americans!
Here's a petition to help Richardson become the Vice Presidential nominee.
If you thought Richardson was a fine candidate, but not quite up to the job of being President, or just not as attractive as another candidate, here is your chance to support him. Remember, if these past 7 years have taught us anything, its that Vice Presidents can be VERY influential!
NOTE: You do not have to pay ANYTHING to this site! I did not, and I received an email confirmation stating my petition signature was received. So just close the browser once you get to the donation/credit card screen. It will accept your petition, regardless of whether you pay or not. |

I like Richardson, but speaking-wise, sometimes reminds me of Al Gore. He's an intelligent, much accomplished man, but not an energetic speaker that gets people excited much.
I could see him as VP for eight years, and then lose a close election just like Gore.
I like Richardson though. |

I like him and could see him as president. I don't see him as a VeeP. General Wesley Clark is a better choice for that spot. If either Senator Clinton or Obama gets the nod, I think we need a 'traditional white guy' to balance the ticket. In addition, we're in a war and I'd be more comfortable with someone at the top with some military experience. Tip-toeing delicately through the minefield of PC correctness, I think one non-traditional candidate on the ticket is enough.
I see Richardson serving better as Secretary of State or back at the UN. |

Richardson would be a fantastic choice for veep. He's got tremendous foreign-policy and diplomacy expertise, which would be a great asset to an Obama ticket in particular. Also, he's a Westerner and a Hispanic, two demographics that the Democrats will need majorities of to win the White House this year. If the Dem nominee has any sense, s/he will tap Richardson immediately. |

And how, exactly, would Richardson help the ticket? New Mexico's 32 delegates are negligible, the population is under 2 million (half of which are non-voting hairspray drinkers), and Richardson has no support from the Christians or military, etc. His role as VP nominee would be absolutely irrelevant and wouldn't help the ticket at.all. |

What's a hairspray drinker? First there were the Great Lakes Democrats and now hairspray drinkers...I think I've been away from home too long. Are you saying that beauticians don't vote--somehow that doesn't seem to fit what you're saying.
Anyway, Richardson being Hispanic might play a role in key states like Florida...wouldn't hurt in Colorado and Texas either. |

I can't imagine Hispanics turning out to vote for Richardson as a VP. I also don't see the average Juan and Pablo identifying with the anglofied Billy R; even his name has no traction. |

If Obama gets the nod then he will need a VP with some experience. I don't think John Edwards would cut it. |

The ticket has to have a nice ring to it - "Clinton - Richardson" sounds better than "Clinton-Clark"
But, "Obama - Clark" sounds better than "Obama - Richardson" ...
"Edwards - Richardson"? - nah ...
However, "Edwards - Clark" subtly evokes "Lewis and Clark", which should resonate well throughout the Midwest and Northwest regions.
Better yet - draft Georgia Congressman John Lewis (a black activist alternative to Obama) to be atop the ticket with Clark as the VP ...
They'd figure to wage a very expeditious campaign ... |

I would expect Hillary to pick any of the three I mentioned.
Powell, Biden, Clark.
So who would she choose?
Who does she owe?
Harold Ford
Howard Dean

Clifton Clark sounds better than Clinton-Clark, in my opinion.
Then again, Clinton-Clark is harder sounding, and Hillary may need the tougher sounding ticket (if she's gonna keep crying ...)
Richardson is more known for diplomatic skills at the international level - making him a natural for Secretary of State ...
If Clinton gets the nomination and becomes President, Obama figures to get the next Supreme Court appointment... |
