I'm switching from GEPIK to EPIK. My current visa expires on February 23rd. Can I make a visa run before my current visa expires?
I have to be at EPIK orientation from February 23rd - March 2nd. |

you may not have to do a visa run at all - since both of these are govt institutions i.e, public schools, they most likely can just transfer your visa and you won't have to leave at all.
talk to your school about it. as long as it's the same kind of visa - an E2, right?
in any effect, as long as you have a new visa issuance number, when you leave the country at the border, where you pass thru immi, you just tell them there to cancel your visa you've finished your contract and they will do so. |

| Don't the new visa regs make it easier for someone in your situation? As in you can switch employers without leaving the country? Not that I really know...phone immi maybe for the real deal. |

It's the same kind of visa - E2. I'm not sure if I have to leave the country or not. |

When does your current contract expire?
When you state "My visa expires February 23.", I assume you mean your period of sojourn.
I'm sure you will have to do a visa run because you are changing jobs, not re-signing... but in your case, that's a good thing - the perfect excuse to get out of a couple of days of 'orientation'. |

if you are being hired thru a main office as opposed to directly from a school - who may not be all that familiar w/how to deal with immi - chances are good you won't have to do a visa run that they can just transfer your visa
in fact, they are probably thinking the same thing but not necessarily saying anything about it to you (typical) get ahold of whoever is taking care of your paperwork and talk to them.
i'm thinking you will just have your workplace transferred on your visa but either way please post and let us know, ok? |
