|
|
I have not seen anything on the boards in a little while about F-2 visa holders and doing privates lately, so I thought I'd re-ask the question: who knows the latest from immigration on the legality of doing private lessons?
If it is illegal, howso exactly/why? Are there any F-2 visa holders who have ever gotten in trouble for doing privates? What happened?
If it can be done legally, can you give details? (particularly how one would go about declaring and paying taxes on this income)
Sorry that this is a bit of a tired subject, but I (and I'm sure many others) would appreciate any information that anyone out there has.
p.s. or you could kindly redirect me to any recent threads on this topic and I'd still much appreciate it. |

look at RYST HELMUTS post at the bottom of page 1 on the sticky thread - it tells you the document you need to get a private tutors licence from the MOE, and you can get your wife to naver search your local MOE homepage. you just need your f-2, degree, any other certificates you might have, your address and 2 photos. i haven't got mine yet as my degree is at my new job being processed before march, but when i get my degree back i will get it and let you know how i got on.

Right, I've heard that before, but I've also heard that even though the MOE will give you a license, it's still illegal with immigration. Does this still hold true/did it ever hold true? |

if you can find someone who ever ever ever got in trouble with the tutors licence and the f-2, you are a better man than i my friend. immigration are no longer the enemy when you go f-2 - the taxman fills that role quite nicely! |

I can dig that... how do you go about paying the taxes on private tutoring then? (I understand you may not know, but if you do know - or anyone else does - that'd be great) |

There is a form from the MoE to fill in indicating who you teach (address, person's name and age required), where you teach (address of apartment) and for how much. This then gets sent to the taxman then who contacts you to ask for tax. Simple and sparkling. |
