Hello Everyone, I am about to start teaching in South Korea on the 19th of November in Uijeongbu. Is anyone else teaching in that city (I need some friends) and how is it like?

I live really near Uijeongbu... like less than 3 minutes by bus.
There are 2 or 3 military bases there so you're likely to see a bunch of foreigners (U.S.)

I also think there are a good deal of foreign teachers working there as well. The city seems to have good amenities and it's on the dark blue line that takes you to the subway. You shouldn't have any problems meeting foreigners in Uijeongbu.

It worked for me and lots of others. Good way of getting out in the weekends. Not too many of the Koreans hit you up for free English lessons either. They're there for the same reasons you are.

You aren't even here yet and you want pre-arranged friends? Just bring your teddy...or maybe your mom will join you.

A have a friend. He waits patiently for me to come home every night, listens to all my problems/renditions of Lou Reed, never interrupts and never asks for favours. He comes in a little green bottle and for a buck and a half he'll be your friend, too.

Be careful, though, because he's very good at convincing you that you're much better looking and well-versed than you really are. Hide the phone when he comes over.

I see no problem in arranging to meet people in advance of my trip to South Korea. I love meeting new people and experiencing new things, enhance the reason I chose to go to Korea in the first place. Don't confuse me saying I need friends for insecurity!
