Thoughts? It will be kindy, but pays 2.3-.2.5 and I'm a newbie at this. Not sure where to go, but I just want to get an informed opinion first. I heard I should run like hell from kindy. Then again, who knows. Thanks in advance!

I worked for YBM in 2005. Be careful, because conditions will vary widely.

Firstly, YBM has a number of different divisions.

Some schools are "company owned" and managed by head office, others are franchised (like McDonalds) and conditions in that case are unpredictable.

In some cases housing is provided, in other cases not.

In some cases there are split shifts, in other cases it will be a 6 hour bloc.

You could teach exclusively adults or exclusively elementary, or a combination of elementary and middle school or in my case a combination of kinder, elementary, middle *and* high school (which is not easy).

Do your research, there is no hard and fast rule with YBM (there are currently worse places) although it pays to be cautious and read the fine print.

2.5 mil is liveable and is within the ballpark of an average salary for someone fresh off the boat. Negotiating vacation time upfront is desirable. Otherwise you could end up working 51 weeks and think very carefully about summer and winter intensives.

Until 2004, YBM were offering contracts as low as 1.6 million, so as much as I am uneasy with the company, they do seem to be *slightly* moving in the right direction at the moment and throughout my 12 months at YBM I was paid on time, which I suppose is something.
