I'm Canadian and the wife is Thai and we have a two year old son.
My son has been receiving all his vaccination shots for free. All they wanted was his ARC card. Very Happy
I do have have Medical coverage for the family, but the card was not requested. Surprised

Just curious but, was your son's shots of the kind that leaves those horrendous scars on arms? I never understood that and hope it isn't continued.

He's only two years old, but no scarring. He doesn't even cry when he gets the needle, whereas all the other kids are screeming their lungs out.

As for the scars, the worst ones I've seen were on the shoulder's of women in there 20's to 30's. Why, that is, I have no idea.

The medical system is quite good here in Seoul, however it depends on where you get your treatment. With a child, I would recommend going to an international clinic at a major hospital to make sure you don't have any communication problems with your doctor.
If you'd like more detailed information about different hospitals in Seoul send me a pm.

Our daughter is just about 2. She was born here. We have an excellent pediatrician and have no communication problems. We do NOT go to an international clinic but go to the pediatrician at the local womens hospital here in Seohyun-dong.

Our daughter has had all of the standard immunizations without problem and the couple of times she got sick it was dealt with in an expeditious manner without difficulty or complication.

The level of health care here is for the most part as up to date as home without the waiting times.

A typical doctors visit is 3000 won and prescriptions are cheap. We do have national insurance and neither of us is Korean.

If I remember correctly, my National Health Insurance premium did not increase when I had my wife and son name added to the insurace plan.

correct... price is the same - single, married or married with kids.

2.385% of your salary and matched by your employer (for a total premium of 4.77% of your monthly salary).
