Just bought a new Zipel refrigerator and had it delivered. My wife and I had a big argument about getting one, because I just knew they'd scratch the hell out of it trying to get it in here. Delivery people just aren't careful enough around here. Everything is BALLY BALLY. We're only living here a year, and I said we could wait until we moved into a nicer place to get something new.

Guess what? They delivered it today, and they scratched it. She doesn't want to do anything about it. I'm pretty pissed. I hate to buy anything new in this country. They just damage it.

That's a few hundred thousand won.

Did the store's delivery men scratch it? How bad is it? I'd personally file a complaint and see if you can't get it repaired, replaced or get some money back.

People buy things new so they look new. No one would buy a new car with a big scratch down the middle unless some kind of discount was applied. Even for cheap products, defects = discounts.

I would send it back. Don't accept damaged goods. There's not enough complaining in this country. Demand service and you'll get it. Lie down and they'll walk all over you.

Never had a problem with that, but if I got damaged goods you can be sure I'd be getting a replacement or a partial refund.

Well, I've calmed down. She called and they came out a few hours later and looked at it. The guy gave us the choice of replacement or discount. He gave us a 10% discount (the thing cost just over 700,000) and will give us some special paint to cover the scuff. It's on the back right corner. I think I can cover it up enough.

When it came down to it, we really would like a new and perfect one, but we just don't have much time in the next few weeks to do this. Also, it's such a pain in the rear to get anything into this house, and we need another lift truck to move this one out and get the new one in. Our stupid door isn't standard-sized, so that makes it more difficult (it's only about 180cm high).

We're not thrilled, but oh well. We'll hope I can do a good touch-up job on the paint. Regular paint won't do, because it can rust unless you use the special paint.

Here's what the fridge looks like:

Gender inversion in the 21st century:

"Oh no! Eeek! Our new refrigerator is damaged!!"
"Don't worry honey. It's just a scratch."

If it's a problem you should of told them to take it back and bring another or refund your money, simple as that.

Why would you buy a fridge now? Put your stuff on the balcony. It is winter you know.

We got a similar frige (albiet older) for 200,000. The lady who owned it couldn't be bothered to move it, so she gave us a good price. It still works well after 1 1/2 years.

Sucks, but it happens. I remember 1 hour after I got my windshield replaced in my car the truck in front of me kicked up a rock and cracked my brand new windshield.

I used to order computer parts via Newegg or other sites back home and it always sucked to get things DOA.

My first LCD/HDTV I ordered on the internet and when it arrived, there was a HUGE scratch down the middle of the screen and screws that have literally fallen off and were shaking around in the bottom of the box. This was UPS in the States BTW.

UPS insurance wouldn't cover it saying it wasn't their problem. The place I bought it from took it back but I had to eat the 15% restocking fee PLUS the $80 shipping BACK to Circuit City.

Delivery was from Samsung, but the shop is in Youngsan. Phone number is 02)6408-8256. The shop name is 교브플러. We saw him on www.enuri.com. Was listed at 720,000 , but got a small discount from some kind of special. So it was 698,000 after that. It's a Zipel model #SR-S576TCH, and it's 567 liters. There is a larger model for not much more that's something around 684 liters, I think. We didn't want one that big, though.

There are also DIOS (by LG) and Klasse (Daewoo). The Klasse was about 100,000 cheaper than the Zipel, but we got this because it has a slightly better energy rating (although the other isn't that bad).
