How do I do this? I know I need to get a sponsor.. this shouldn't be a problem as I have plenty of close friends in Korea (hopefully they don't consider it a burden) I mean what does the sponsor stand to lose anyway? Hopefully some people out there can guide me through the student visa process..

BUMP I know this is a boring topic, but it's important for me. So I'd really lappreciate any advice from anyone who's had a student visa. |

You're asking the wrong people. Phone your local Korean embassy or consolate. |

I know for a fact that posters here have studied Korean full time (ie not teaching at the same time). you mean to tell me none of them had a student visa? |

Mash,
I think that the place you will be studying (look at University websites) will sponsor you if you take a certain number of credits. Don't know where you're from so I don't know about the tourist visa for you. I met a Canadian at Immigration who started studying on a tourist visa (Canadians get a 6 month visa on arrival) and ended up applying for a student visa. Immigration asked to see his attendence records and were giving him a little grief over it ("what you've only attended 83% of your classes-what have you been doing in your spare time"). |

Casinoman,
Thanks for the help. As an Australian I can only get a 3 month tourist visa, that's why I'd prefer a student visa which will get me at least 6 months. |
