My recent post about my experience in Korea should be further detailed by something that I remembered today: The school's license name is Il Ryu, and NOT Jung Chul Jr. It gives this name only, Il Ryu, but the schools I worked at were not named Il Ryu. I am wondering if Jung Chul was even an allowable place for me to be working in the first place? I scream this question. Can a school have a business under one name and farm it out to other school owners, is this common? Is this another corrupt practice? Is Il Ryu a chain, or is it the former name of the school? How can I work at a school under one name, and have a different name on my VISA? It is all so wierd, I find it impossible to figure out.

I worked for a school named the Gagnam Language Institute. It had paid for the right to put the Junchul (interlabs) name on their school and use their program. Their certificate was under the original Gagnam Language Institute. Buying into a franchise is perfectly legal and associations with a brand are allowed as long as there is agreement from the brand owner. This does not create any issues as long as the business certificate and your contract matched (if they did not, Immigration would have caught it)
