So I need a root canal. I found out just before I left and didn't have time to get it done. Its pretty bad it would seem from what the dentist said before I left. Now I would like to find a dentist with good or decent english and one who is really good would be nice as it seems to be a bad one as I said. Worse case scenerio I need to have it pulled. Obviously would rather not go that root butttt if I must, one tooth every 25 years isn't too bad.

I could help you with this. I'm not a dentist but I have a dremel flex-tool hooked up to an old pump-sewing machine (tredle). It's good. Hits about 600rpm. We'll use chloroform for anestesia and leather belt restraints. If you wanna pay extra I'll go buy a case of canned whip cream and we can do nitrous. I'll prolly get a few for myself anyway (root canals are boring and I love a good giggle).
We can have it done in about 3 hours. Or take your chances with a dentist. Up to you.

Unfortunately, I do not know any dentists here but I can give you some advice regarding a comfortable experience at the dentist here. My father is a dentist, and this is what he would do, which some dentists may call overkill. First, I would make sure the doctor wears gloves (very important) and for a good and painless root canal - ask for demerol and phinergin for a pre-med (not an absolute necessity but it will make you very relaxed and feel less pain), then articaine as the local anesthetic (which is much stronger than lidocaine or novocaine).
This is not the advice you asked for, but I thought I would help anyway. |

Korea's kind of a big place.....in case you haven't noticed.
Best advice is too ask a co-worker or a local friend for a referral.
Lucky for you, Korean dentists are usually not so expensive and they love doing root canals (if you haven't noticed from all the caps/crowns ppl have). |

i don't have advice as to where you should go, but the advice provided above is sound. i had a root canal and crown done over the summer, and had to demand that the dentist and hygenist wear gloves. furthermore, i had to stop him after he started the root canal without any anesthetic. in fact, he started without it again on the second visit despite assuring me he was going to use it! i'd read about this kind of thing happening on dave's before. it horrified my wife though.
expect to pay in the neighborhood 300,000-800,000, depending upon what kind of crown you choose. my wife raised hell about the anesthetic issue, so they knocked a nice chunk off my final bill. it'll take 3-4 visits to finish everything. |

i'm scared crapless of dentists, but have no fear whatsoever of the dentists here in seoul. i don't know where in the world the posters before me went, but i've had nothing but pleasant/professional dealings with the dentists in korea. hell, i've decided to get the full works done here. i used to go to mee international in hannam, but they've since changed their name to "chicago" dental clinic. not sure if they changed staff, also, but it's certainly worth looking into. there are numerous dentists available in hannam that friends/co-workers have used and can vouch for, all relatively close to one another. english is very good to fluent, and the service is great. |

If you are in/near Gangnam (Seoul) then I would def recommend Columbia Plus Dental Clinic....ask me for number or Google.
I have had a lot of work done there and recommended to many.
Near native English level speaker and very good with nervous wrecks (like me )
Tell him Val sent you... |
