|
|
So I'm getting annoyed with the K-teachers playing with my work computer (they keep fcuking it up) and decided to install an English version of XP Pro with password protected user accounts. But I've run into a small problem... could someone please help out?
Made three partitions (15GB, 15GB and 260GB) and installed XP on the C drive. When I boot up Windows, it doesn't automatically boot up my fresh install but prompts me to choose an OS (as if it was a dual-boot) The English version will boot fine if I select that but I don't want the other version (actually a Korean Home XP Edition). It doesn't even boot anyhow; just gives an error.
Why is the Home Edition showing up? I thought that should be gone for good... did I miss something out?
I would like it just to boot to the English version (don't want the K-version at all).
So, if I'm gonna do this from scratch again, what do I need to do to make sure this doesn't happen again.
(On side note, I would mind making this work computer a dual boot with Linux... partition-wise, how do I do this? Do I simply install Linux on the D drive?)
Thanks for your help |

Sounds like you need to format the drive that the Korean XP was installed on. It may be detecting remnants of it and that's why it offers the choice. Do a fresh format and clean it up completely! Unless of course you installed the new XP on the same drive, then you'd have to re-install it on the new drive and clean the old one.

The old OS was on the C drive and the new OS is on the C drive too. I resized the C drive to 15GB and formatted it and then added another D drive (15GB) and an E drive (260GB)...
You think I should format C again and install again? |

OK. Cheers guys. I will give this a go on Monday when I'm back at work.
Thanks for your help. Demophobe, it's nice to see you don't hold a grudge against me for teasing you in the other XP thread. |

You're in Jeju? I'm in Jeju right now looking for an apartment for March when I'm moving back here!
We'll have to hook up sometime to chat about computers and stuff.
