|
|
I spend every weekend in Busan, and I'm dropping 400,000 a month on motels (Fri/Sat/Sun night). I'd like to find a place to stay on the weekends, that isn't quite so pricey. I have no plans to bring anyone back to my place...I have a girlfriend in Busan and we spend the day going out and doing stuff. I'm a nice guy, no loud music...you'd probably barely know I was there. I'd like just a place to crash at night, basically.
I'd prefer something within walking distance to the subway.
PM me if interested. Don't PM me if you do anything illegal at your place (like grow or sell weed), please. |

Where are you staying?? I stay at Haeundae Beach for 35,000 a night which includes free in-room PC with Internet, big screen TV, water, a couple juices, toiletries and a pack of 3 condoms. |

My place is the same price. I'm there 3 nights a week, 4 weeks a month, so over 400,000. |

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from doing this, but this kind of arrangement could potentially be problematic if either you or the renter began to have difficulties with the arrangement. I understand yo want to save money, but personally, I wouldn't want to rent out a spare room for much less than 35,000 per night considering the trouble/stress it might cause me. I'm sure you're a nice person and wouldn't make trouble. Just something to think about tho. |

I hear what you're saying, but sometimes I run into nice people and good arrangements just sort of work themselves out. Worst case scenario, I lose a couple hundred bucks if someone takes my money and locks me out. Or maybe a spare change of clothes if I leave a set there. All in all, not too bad.
Honestly, the renter has way more to lose if I turned out to be a crackhead or something, but I think the renter would figure that out when we first met, and I'm totally fine to do an interview on a weekend when I've already made my own arrangements, so there isn't any pressure or anything, and the renter will get a chance to make sure I'm not a Nazi skinhead or anything. |

Why don't you try and make some sort of a deal with the motel, instead? Surely they know who you are by now? Get the girlfriend to sort it out? |

Good idea there tzechuk.
Rumple, if you have been staying there each weekend for a while the owner knows you. If as you say you are the quiet type and make no trouble for the place..then you could easily talk with the owner and strike a deal: reduced rate as you are there everyweekend.
The owner is likely to be open to this because you are a repeat customer and cause him no problems.
As for finding a room..it might be tough because most people would be reluctant to rant out a room in their place to a stranger from a discussion board....no offense there rumple.
If you get more serious with your gf perhaps you could stay at her folks palce (if that is where she lives)...who knows. |

Rumple, sorry, but I think you're being incredibly naive with your request, and I'd take the advice of Tzechuk and Homer.
I have a toddler now and so my spare room is out, but even without her I wouldn't consider your offer in a million years. Look at it from my perspective: for less than I make in 2 hours, a complete stranger wants 3 days of access to my house, coming in whenever he likes. For starters, I'd have to stay there all 3 days to make sure he didn't come in when I was gone and steal everything in my absence. Alternatively, maybe I wouldn't give him keys and he'd only come when I was home, but that either means I had to stay home all weekend, or he would go to a motel, kinda defeating the purpose. But hell, he could still steal something when I was sleeping...On top of that, I'd assume he'd want to use the shower and toilet too...would I have to clean up after him, taking his pubic hairs out of my soap? Oh, the temptation!
Sorry, that's the most trollish I've ever been in 3 years or so on this board, but if you DO find someone willing to put up you up, please let me know, because I have a bridge I want to sell them. |

I used to have to spend every weekend at a motel in Taejeon. After a couple of months I negotiated a reduced price (20% discount I think). Alot of places will do that if you ask and show you are a good customer. |

Well, thanks to everyone who told me that nobody would ever offer me a room, but I've got a couple tentative offers from nice people (one doesn't even want to charge me anything).
I'm not naive. I'm a world traveler who has no problem acquitting himself just fine even in dangerous places. However, I also have learned that sometimes, people want to help people, even when doing so presents an inherent risk, because doing something nice can lead to new connections, new friendships, all sorts of good things. Naive means one doesn't know the risks/situation. I on the other hand, know the risks and see them as negligible, because I'm not much attached to the things I could lose.
And I have my own soap, so if I use a shared shower, its all good. |

Do those nice people a favor man....go to the public bath instead of using their shower... |
