This Korean kid is better than most guitar players in the world...
...and sadly, most of my students don't know what an electric guitar is
Asians are better at practicing / learning a specific skill than any other people the world over. |

Yeah. Like the Japanese soccer and baseball players.
American basball and European soccer coaches go on about players' accuracy and technique. |

Yeah, kind of like how I can't watch Chinese/North Korean acrobats because I know the hell that they're put through to get to be that amazing.
(Same goes for gymnastics/figure skating in general, really) |

Too bad the poor guy will probably never have an inkling of creativity. |

Odd. Most of my students didn't know what an acoustic guitar was. They thought ALL guitars were electric. |

'Smells like Teen Spirit' and 'Living on a Prayer' are much, much better than 'No woman no cry'. I found the OP song repetitive and disappointing so looked for more and really liked it.
I'm delighted to sing the praises of the lil dude here, but because Koreans are so irritatingly nationalistic, he won't get much credit to Koreans. This is why modesty is best. If you're modest, people will pay your countrymen their due credence. If you're an anus, you'll never recieve any recognition by anyone who can locate you on a map.

The caliber of guitarists(especially from Korea) is reaching new levels with the medium of Youtube(comparison, possibilities and competition) and it's great to see that young players are tuning in to the playing style of Eric Roche(RIP). This player has a fluency and interpretation beyond his years, outstanding actually.
The right hand has been limited for far too long(for right-handed players). It's also good to see that the possibilities of the acoustic guitar are finally being appreciated and applied in general performance.
I foresee the way acoustic guitar is played in the next twenty years will see double-handed fret playing, playing beyond the fretting hand, incorporated flamenco right and techniques, syncopated sound-box drumming techniques becoming standard.
Has anyone/someone actually played that style at the Winfield National Guitar competition held in Kansas? |

WOW, thanks!
That guy rocks. Are his transcriptions available in published tablature and standard notation?
BTW: how many new guitar heroes can we fit on one spinning orb in space? I'm beginning to wonder if my own playing is becoming jaded.
Perhaps this is the dude our young Korean maestro gathers his influence from. |
