My wife and I are trying to decide where to go for our vacation in Feb. We are leaving the week after Lunar New Year. We are looking for a combo of relaxing, shopping, nice beaches and some island hopping. We will probably stay for about 5-7 days. Any suggestions? |

Singapore
Great place, except finding a hotel room for under $100pp US per night would be very difficult. Airfares to Singapore would be 800,000 won per person minimum, which would probably be a bit much.
Bintan
Cheaper than Singapore for sure, but you would have to go through Singapore to get there - so whatever money you save by staying in Indonesia - is lost in upfront transport costs.
Palawan
The Phillipines are cheaper *if* you can get a seat on one of their charter airlines Cebu Pacific (to Cebu or Manila) or Asian Spirit (to Davao, Kalibo and Laoag) all express from Incheon. I am not that keen on the Phillipines personally, but it is probably the best *value for money* out of the four options.
Kota Kinabalu
Nice. Very nice. The city itself is not too expensive, but getting flights there would be.
My Tip
Catch the ferry Busan to Fukuoka, stay in a simple guest house in Kyoto for a few days and save yo money! |
