Alright, so as it turns out I'm leaving in March. That means I'll need to sell my bikes.

Up for grabs is a fuel-injected 1998 Suzuki GSX-R 750. This bike is FAST and extremely capable. There is nothing that'll get your blood pumping quite like twisting the throttle on this bike! Just starting it up is an experience; the bike cranks and fires over and FOOOM! the bike roars to life with the Yoshimura pipe howling to the world that something big has just started.

Sally (the bike's name, of course) has 30,000km on her (just over 18,000 miles). Regular service, etc., and I have the titles clean and clear. 85% new rear tire, too.

Now, I did go down in a lowside on this bike. The right fairing scraped through, as did the clutch cover and engine case. BUT!!: I bought new parts and they're being installed as I write this. In fact, I was just at the mechanic's an hour ago; the bike will be ready on February 5th. The only damage, then, is the scrape on the exhaust and to the fairing/frame slider. The engine, transmission, and suspension are all in great shape. Also, I'm including the painted-to-match race cowling for the rear seat as well.

This bike. . . wow, does it ever stir the soul. It's a fast, loud, sexy motorcycle. Big ol' stonkin' dual brake rotors and dual 3-pot calipers on the front mean when you want to stop, you STOP. I have the ride set to a fairly firm setting (I'm a big guy) but can soften it out for you if you want; it has fully-adjustable forks and shocks, front and rear. I guarantee you that you will not want anything faster. With the Yoshi pipe it puts out something like 135hp, and over 100rwhp.

You will not find a better bike for the money in Korea. I'd rather sell to a foreigner because my Korean isn't great, so here's the deal. I just listed this on onroadzone for 3.2, but I'm offering it on Dave's for 3.0. I'll be gone from Jan. 23-Feb. 9; after that, you're free to come down to Yeosu anytime for a test ride. Bring cash, and ride home. You will not regret buying this bike; it's a wonderful, wonderful machine.

PM/e-mail me for more details. Like I said, I'm leaving on vacation but I'll need to sell the bike before I move back to America; I wanted to put this out there now because I know that dropping 3 g's on a bike isn't something most people do on a whim.

I've been here about two and a half years, and it's getting to be About That Time. Yeah, I have an arrest on my record (something like 8 years ago) but it didn't result in a conviction anyway. Rather, my wife and I are leaving because we need some time away from Korea and the noise and food. She also misses her family, and while I would be okay with living here longer, she wants to go back to the USA and I don't feel right asking her to stay in Korea (where she obviously doesn't want to live).

Really, it's a confluence of things. We leave on March 2nd and I'm honestly rather scared about setting up shop in America; I've kind of grown accustomed to Korea!

First and foremost; I feel you on the accustomed to Korea and re-setting up shop in America. That is a great bike! I had an early 90's version of the GSX-R back home. I wish that I was comfortable enough in my situation to take it off of your hands, but I am in the same boat (my K gf wants to move to America this year, so I don't know how long I will be here either). Good luck with the sale and getting reacclimated!

I had the 1996 carb version of that same bike.

It was my favorite bike, next to my Kawasaki ZX-11.

I generally prefer a 750, honestly, for the balance between torque and weight. Literbikes scare me and they are, of course, heavier around their rotational points. 600s can be quite fast but are always rather high-strung with a heavy rider such as myself.

Moving back to the US I'll be looking for a GSX-R750 there, too. I might have to settle for a 600, but I really do love the midweight race-reps.

That's a nice looking bike.. hope it sells quickly. I'd be interested if I didn't already have one, and am sort of in a similar predicament to the rest of you..

Going from a 125 to a 400 was great, but how does going upto a 600+ from a 400 compare?

BIG difference. 400s will usually put out around 40-50hp. A 600cc sportbike will put out generally about 85-95 horsepower.

The '98 GSX-R, stock, put out around 128hp. With the Yoshi can, you can expect a little more than that.

Modern literbikes, for comparison, are pushing past 150rwhp.

(Hey guys, buy my GSX-R. . . need to sell!)

Spliff knows absolutely nothing about everything....does a few searches on enuri or danawa and posts up prices....I think it is fair to say that he would be THE most annoying person to get stuck sitting next to on a long haul flight....A right tool

Yeah, and 2.3 is a silly number. Doing a search on bikemart yields some interesting results. For 3,000,000 you can get an older, carbureted CBR400. . . and that's about it. There are no faired sportbikes for near 3,000,000 and certainly nothing fuel-injected. Anyone who's ridden a carbureted bike for any period of time -- especially in colder weather -- knows that carbs can be EXTREMELY finicky. Not to mention, of course, that carbs require re-jetting and rebuilding every couple of years and that they're far more prone to acting up than are fuel injectors.

3,000,000 is a very reasonable price for this motorcycle. It is a turnkey sportbike, not a ratted-out, thrashed, beater.

I've had a couple people tell me they want to buy it from Onroadzone but I'd really prefer to deal with a foreigner since it's hard work to communicate in Korean. Again, drop me a line if you're interested. I'll check my e-mail tody and tomorrow and periodically while traveling and will certainly respond to anyone by the time I get back on the 9th.

I do appreciate your interest. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
