'Barack Hussein Obama' robocallPosted: Saturday, January 19, 2008 5:24 PM by Mark Murray
Filed Under: 2008, Obama
From NBC's Andy Merten
The Obama campaign has provided NBC News with a recording of robocall that a Nevadan received. The call, first reported by the Politico, repeats the Illinois senators middle name, Hussein and attacks his relations with Washington lobbyists and special interest groups. It makes no mention of Clinton or Edwards.

It's unclear how many Nevadans heard it. The Politico mentions just one who did.

Here's the a full transcript of the roughly 30-second call is below: Hi, I'm calling with some information about Barack Hussein Obama that you don't know. Barack Hussein Obama says he doesn't take money from Washington lobbyists or special interest groups, but the record is clear. He does. In fact, Barack Hussein Obama has taken millions of dollars from federal lobbying firms, Wall Street fat cats, big oil and pharmaceutical companies. It's all there on the record, the facts are clear. We just can't take a chance on Barrack Hussein Obama.

Yep. That's pretty slimey.

Obama's 'spiritual advisor' who seems to be the minister of his church said the Clintons were not friends of black people. Bill did the same thing to blacks that he did to Monica.

All campaigns have some slime. It's an unfortunate reality. The candidates need to do what they can to minimize it, but can never hope to eliminate it altogether.

To put it into historical perspective, John Adams' people put out in the newspapers of the day (1800) that Thomas Jefferson would turn the country over to the French revolutionaries and we'd have our own Reign of Terror. TJ's people said Adams wanted to be king or else turn the country over to the British.

Keep denying the Clinton's involvement. It will be really funny when she loses the general election in November because people sit on their hands.

And yes it will happen.

EDIT: Oh, and good job changing your reply once again. It just goes to show the Clinton's I deserve it attitude once again.

You actually think what I do on this message board is a reflection of Clinton's character?

Laughing

I think if that were the case, Clinton would be by far the better person. Because, I'm not on this board whining all the time.

No, I don't think this board is represenative, because there are a ton of Paul supporters.

As to the whinning accusation, it just goes to show your low maturity level and lack of ability to tell the truth.

Clinton won and Obama lost! Neener-neener-neener!

There, now that's low maturity level!

Meh-long! Razz

I'm reminded of another historical example. Andrew Jackson's wife Rachael is thought to have died rather than go to Washington. She couldn't put up with the sniping at the allegations that she was a bigamist (there was an irregularity in her divorce from her first husband, and may not have been formally married to Jackson), as well as the comments about her weight and pipe-smoking during the Election of 1832. Evidently, her youthful beauty had fled.

I will wait with baited breath for Big_Bird to come on and say something about how old fat pipe-smoking backwoods women are just as desirable as...well, whatever she can come up with.

Yep, very typical of you. It doesn't surprise me a bit. Like I said, who will have the last laugh in November when it's Clinton vs. Romney.

*becomes serious*

You know, you shouldn't give up so soon. Clinton won a single more delegate than Obama, it was 13 to 12 as far as delegates go.

This is a glorious campaign. Please don't do anything crazy! You're too young and you have so much potential!

Speaking of dirty tricks, politics strikes me as a dirty business, rife with dirty tricks at every level -- in more times and places than American politics. Politics is also an old and respected art in human affairs. So there is more to it than corruption and dirty tricks.

But however you may stand on this, why do some feign surprise and mock outrage when they "discover" it in this or that campaign...?

And Dave, the dust will not settle until after Super Tues. (and, really, the conventions). Then we will see what we will see. So relax on this. And Obama can always run again next time; he clearly wins much support and is a plausible candidate for the Democratic nomination, now or in the future.

Gopher,

Maybe because some believe we can be above that. The 2000 and 2004 campaigns set a new low for our country in terms of the dirty ugly stuff that happened. John McCain on the Republican side and the black baby lie. While I wouldn't vote for McCain, I respect the fact he has some strong opinions and served our country. McCain surely did NOT deserve such behavior and we know exactly where it came from even if there was no proof (I can't remember whether it came out or not who did it). While I was never a huge Kerry fan (I never really had a true favorite in 2004 probably because of the disappointment of Gore losing in 2000), he did also not deserve the crap fed to him by the Swift Boat liers.

It's an ethical spiral that will only get worse. What happened in 2000 and 2004 is going to pale in comparison to this year. The more certain campaigns do it, the more they have coming in the GE. Anyone that thinks BO has one or two select things to use against him, should look at HC's past. Whether they are true or not, the Republicans will eat her alive in November.

Both official campaigns are staying away from negative campaign ads (but maybe not other kinds of negative campaigning), in an effort not to rouse intra-party passions. They both know the 'enemy' is the other party.
