|
|
THE RACE CARD: no one plays it half as well as the self-appointed Black political leadership and no party has curried it more than the Democrats.
Is poetic justice being served as staunch liberals Hillary and Bill find themselves looking over their shoulders to see if any Black hens are scratching at their heels?
I mean, this is priceless, absolutely and unequivocably priceless. For decades racial allegations have been levied against conservatives, the Republican Party, and anyone who would dare call into question the integrity of a Black political candidate.
Let them cluck all they want, I say!
It's about time Hill-Bill get a taste of their own medicine. Cosby found out the hard way that it doesn't matter if you give your left nut to civil rights, you're suspect the moment you cluck contrary.
Now Obama and his camp are claiming they didn't play the race card but Hill-Bill are insisting just the opposite.
Bob Johnson, the Black entrepeneur, has publicly scolded Obama on this score but before things could escalate, both sides raised the white flag. And just in time to celebrate Black History Month, too.
Perhaps they have enough sense to realize this bickering about race can only hurt them now and in the general election.
Of course, Prez Bill, the "first Black president," feels entitled to point fingers and didn't back off a bit after accusing the Obama camp of a smear campaign. But he, too, had the good sense to go on a popular Black radio talk show and make his case.
And all over having the audacity to suggest that LBJ has as much to do with passage of the civil rights legislation as the venerable King himself. Of course, King is sancrosanct: even an "off-color" (pun intended) joke about him would land any white politician in the hot seat faster than Barry Bonds can inject himself with steriods.
But give me a break, Bill: What did you expect? Did you really think some of Obama's more ardent supporters wouldn't milk this for all it's worth? The question remains whether the mainstream media is hyping this up or with whom, if anyone, their sympathies lie. Bill has already come out insinuating that they're backing Obama.
All I know is that Obama will have NO chance of getting my vote IF he doesn't distance himself quickly from this clucking contest and steer his campaign staffers back to the real issues at hand.
Is he an Arthur Ashe or a Serena Williams?
What say you? |

I have caught bits and pieces of the argument through the msm. It's my hope that Obama doesn't make race an issue, because that's not what his candidacy is about. Obama tends to put himself in a bind by responding to the insulting things the Clinton campaign says, which is a no win situation for him. He needs to stick to the issues and let the Clinton campaign dig their own grave. |

I remember Bill Maher had an all-black episode of Politically Incorrect once, and while he was talking to the panelists, he mentioned that soon before his death, MLK had spent the night with a group of prostitutes. The punch line was that King was heard to have said "Three at last, three at last!!"
Not much laughter from the panel. |

Man, you got that right, bruddah. He needs to take the high road on this one. I'll cut him some slack and see how things go but you and I both know that when push comes to shove the Clintons will do just about anything underhanded to get back into power. Odd thing too: I know of two Democrats who always vote party line across the board who told me in no uncertain terms that they would vote against Hillary. And one is an older white female! If that sentiment is widespread, her goose is cooked.

Yep, and the irony of it is that James Farmer, one of King's fellow civil rights veterans and a family friend, openly admitted that King had a penchant for skirt chasing, something Hoover's boys picked up on and tried to run with. Seems he had a girl in the sack the night before he was shot at the Lorraine Motel.
What bothers me about the King thing--or thang--is that he is made out to be more than human, as if above reproach. No other figure in American history has enjoyed such reverance. While I admire him greatly, visited his old church on Sweet Auburn and the museum in his honor there, I still take him as a man. Sweet Jesus, he was only 39 years old when he died. I suppose if I knew I had a bullet with my name on it and a brood of kids at home who would become fatherless, I'd be stressed enough to release my tension somehow.
Our sitting president byhis own admission was still drinking up a storm as a Houston playboy at that age.
But talking smack to a Black is taboo. Frank de Lima, the local Portuguese comedian in Honolulu does a routine where he ridicules every racial and ethnic group, especially his own. The only group he doesn't say boo about--yep, you guess it. And that's in a place where being PC is uncool, bruddah. We actually look down on that mainland jazz. But on the odd chance an off-duty Black GI just happened to catch his act, he balks.
Maher had to learn that the hard way. |

The Clinton's are running scared so they're playing dirty pool. Big surprise. Obama just might lose as he seems to be above the filth as much as any national politician might be. |

Steve,
I agree with your two friends about not voting for Hillary Clinton if she wins the nomination and a lot of people (including vocal Hillary supporters on this board) have attacked me for my stance. Which just proves my point, she's not worth voting for. |

If elected, Hillary Clinton will go down in history as the Mother Theresa of American politics. Someday, your granddaughter will ask you, "Grandpa, did you vote for Mrs. President Clinton in 2008?" and you'll have to say, "No dear, I sat on my hands in protest when history was being made." Then her eyes will well up with tears of disappointment because she'll think you are an old mcp who doesn't like women, no matter what you say. And then she will love her other grandpa more. |

There's no controversy here; the media just makes it up.
The charge that the Clintons are racist is patently absurd. |

Hmm..Mother Theresa of politics? I think you've done bumped your head. She's one of the most nasty divisive politicans of our time. I sure as hell don't buy the arguement you are selling (or others) that as a D I have to commit the whomever the nominee is, whether or not history is being made.
The history that will be made, if Clinton is elected is the continued divisive politics that will continue to tear our nation apart. |

Hillary is divisive because everybody already has an opinion on her.
I'm sure Obama will be plenty 'divisive' once people get an opinion of him. But first he has to have done something.
Campaigning for President is certainly something . . . so running for President eo ipso makes one divisive. |

Yep. go back to the same tired old talking points that Obama is for nothing. It doesn't work. Obama is against the war in Iraq and will bring the troops home. Please remind me how HC voted in 2002?
Obama is for bringing affordable healthcare to everyone.
Obama is for working with allies to bring solutions and talking to countries that are on our "axis of evil" list to try to bring them to the table.
Obama is for supporting working families and lowering the tax burden for them.
Obama is for plenty of things. The HC talking points are getting old. |

Putting words in my mouth, I see. Yeah, you're the one with the talking points.
I'm actually trying to convey some real thoughts. No, I don't think Obama is for nothing. BTW, I've talked to other Obama supporters, and they are not one bit as nasty and Hillary-blinkered as you. Thank God. |

And I've talked to many supporters of Hillary...all of them are as nasty as you. Not surprisingly. Unfortunately, it's too typical of HC and her supporters. |

Do you understand how you come off? I mean, do you think you're winning any voters to the cause here? You're just displaying a bunch of bitterness.
It might be better placed if Obama were getting crushed; but he has at least an even chance of winning.
Anyway, I've hardly been nasty to you. Condescending? Occasionally. But you need thicker skin, dude. |
