I was watching basketball on TV today (Korean league), and I must admit, they seem to have a lot of specials on the foreign players there. They also show the foreign players in a very good light, showing them making dunks or passing, and everything is in a good light. Also, I notice that there doesn't seem to be any racism on the court (though I could be wrong, I have only been watching for a few weeks while at the gym). The refs will call things done on and by the foreign players. It just seems like a good thing.

On the other hand, I was watching the weather on the news, and they did all of Korea, then had a special focus on just Dokdo and Ulleungdo. Who the hell cares about the weather on Dokdo (especially, to zoom the map onto it)?

I think that they pay the foreign players quite well....so they want to exploit the freaky foreigners to try and sell tickets

I watch a lot of Korean basketball...i am a season ticket holder for one of the teams and have been for a couple of seasons.

The foreigners are integral to the teams success...more often than not they are 2 of the best 3 players on the team so you need them to win. So mostly the are focused upon in a positive light and Koreans do see past their skin color when they are playing which i think is great. the kids love them and are always trying to get their autograph which can only be good.

Another good thing about the KBL is the fact the referees are not biased against the foreigners at all. They just call the game. Doesn't mean the refereeing is good or consistant but they are not discriminating against anyone.

That isn't the case actually. They are paid 200 million(or 25 mil a month) a season. This is capped
That looks good but the top Korean players are on 500-600 million a season contracts now and even a regular first teamer makes as much as the foreigners do.
So in the money department in the KBL there is an obvious discrimation. there is a purpose for this to keep the level of the foreigners at a lower level so they don't start dominating the Koreans as the teams will get better players if the cap isn't there.

Anybody who is in the fish business (not to mention the many people who live on Ulleungdo). The fishing fleet in those waters is quite large.

Bah, that would be handled by the local broadcasting center anywhere else in the world. It's still pathetic, like your answer, though I don't want to take away from the good of the KBL on this thread.
