I am leaving soon to head to Gyeyang Gu in Incheon to teach for a public school
right now i have no information about this place at all, and am quite worried it is a little isolated. I was wondering if anyone else is in this area, or have been and can tell me a little something about it. I want to be in an area where i can meet lots of foreigners and have a nice city feel with markets and shops to walk around in.
any information would be appreciated - thanks |

It's not isolated at all. In fact, its on the eastern edge of Incheon which means it's quite close to Seoul. Have a look at the satellite imagery on the 'wikimapia.org' website. Gyeyang-gu is the area around Imhak subway station. Lots of foreigners living there.
The "1500" bus goes from Gyeyang-gu to Hongdae (best nightlfe in Seoul) which only takes about 40 mins so you can go clubbing in Hongdae every friday and saturday. You can easily get the bus back from hongdae at 5am which many people do.
A taxi would cost about 18,000 to 25,000 one-way (gyeyang-hongdae) depending on how good you are at haggeling prices.
You should like the place, it's kinda likable! Good luck. |

No more Wal-Mart, it's an E-Mart now, and the subway has closed I've been told.
I live in Gye-yang Gu, have for 2 years. PM me if you want info.
