I hope he recieves a fair trial with adequate representation and if found guilty, I hope he spends the rest of his days in a cozy Korean prison with lots of friendly cell mates. |

I hope he gets knifed in the gut, far away from any help and dies a slow painful death. That's what happens when you let 3rd world citizens come to 2rd world countries and teach english-e. |

didn't i read that 0.5% of trials end in acquittal, but the prosecutor can charge you again for the same crime?

I just hope the guy gets a fair trial. The whole scene sounds fishy to me. |

What seems fishy? Given the stigma that is attached to being a victim, I seriously doubt that some mother would spuriously drum up a charge like this. A 7 year-old is also highly unlikely to describe sexual behavior out of the blue. I hope he gets his nuts whacked off. Dirty bugger. |

I confess I haven't read everything out about it, but the whole "put the chair in the corner so other kids wouldn't see" bit is very fishy. I'd like to know what kind of room allows a corner to be out of view, and what drugs these kindergarten kids were on to make them not act like kindergarten kids. Were they not curious about everything, jumping around and acting like kids?
You should read some of the studies done in the USA about children lying and soon believing their own lies with regards to sexual abuse. Kids do make things up and tend to believe it is they say it enough or are coerced by an adult. Given the anti-foreigner sentiment here, I find it extremely plausible that the child or adult is lying.
All I said is that a fair trial is needed, which may be hard to get in this country. If he is guilty, then lock him up. But don't be so rushed to condemn a man based on what you read in the Korean media. |

Once again, I haven't read everything about this incident and I'm playing devil's advocate on the side of a fair trial here, instead of lynching by mob.
2 problems exist in your statement:
1. How was the testimony from the children collected? If it was collected all at one time in the same room, or if the kids had time to tell each other "what happened," then the testimony is sketchy, just like the Salem Witch Trials.
2. 7 year old kids aren't credible judges.
On another note, if guilty, the guy deserves whatever punishment is dealt to him.
What I hope, though, is that Korea will start taking ALL pedophiles seriously, not just foreign ones. Last year, a step father got into bed with his step daughter and felt her up. This went unpunished as the judge said it was a "sign of affection."
Last month, a Korean SMOE teacher was found "guilty" of touching his 12 year old students. He was fined 20 million won. SMOE has now given him another teaching position.
WTF? |

Repeat: A room full of seven year olds independently telling exactly the same story is the most accurate definition of guilt on the planet.
As to the question of what information was collected, if any, has not made it to the internet yet.
Now go have a nice walk and get some fresh air, Bibbity.

I'm with Bibbitybop on this one. Until proven guilty, he should be thought of as innocent. I knew a teacher who had 9 girls call him out on sexual abuse of one of them. They just did as the one who was mad at him said. He was found not guilty, but his career was ruined anyway. 9 girls all had the same story too. The more and more kids learn about their rights, the more they realize how they can screw with the system. They are still just kids and these kids don't actually realize the full consequences of saying this teacher hurt me. They just think they can get out of doing a report or all the attention they are getting. |
