other topics have talked about the pros and cons of expanding teacher eligibility to other countries (ie, India and others). Well, may I humbly offer my insights. I play soccer on a team composed entirely of hagwan owners and directors, and we have been talking about this for months now. Uniformly, they think it is a great idea because they want tuition to go up (with inflation) and relish the thought of hiring cheaper teachers. I asked them what they would expect to pay one of these "new" teachers, to which they answered, between 500-800,00 KRW/month, with no bonuses, health plans, etc... Oh, and they would expect them to work 40-50 hours a week (and that means 6-7 days).

Sounds like a good deal for these new teachers.

If this plan does go through, there is only one thing to do; open a hagwon.
