I live in Changwon, but I don't know where the place you're living is either. At any rate, my advice would be wait until you get here and talk to the Korean staff at your school. They'll be sure to know where you can find a gym. Good luck.

I've got to say that Korean co-workers I've had in the past have been absolutely useless in knowing where anything is at all. The exceptions being places they attend regularly such as their house, their church and our workplace. I've found that if I want to know where a decent restaurant/gym/bank/park..... is asking other foreigners was much much more productive.

Co-workers can usually find something on the internet though.

I suspect there isn't a Muay Thai gym in Changwon (there aren't very many in Korea). You could find boxing and/or hapkido though which might turn out to be acceptable alternatives if there isn't a Muay Thai gym.

There is one right near me, I live near Changwon university. It is a Korean Muay Thai gym and there are people of all ages kicking seven bells out of something everytime I go past so I assume it is a decent gym.

I'll get the phone number next time I go past and post it up on here.

Hi Komichi,
Im in seoul at the moment. I've been training at K Gym but have had to stop as im moving to Changwon. the gym is near Sungshin Womens University on the Northern end of the blue line. I cant remember the exit but if you find the Dunkin Donuts and carry on up the hill for a bit you should come across it just passed a stationary shop. Its on the second floor and has a green sign outside.

The training is pretty good, the Kru is an ex Korean Champion, though only speaks a little english - theres quite a few guys who train there who can speak english reasonably well though and theres another westerner who also trains there. The gyms open from about 12 till 10, 6 days a week. They do sparring as well and if you want he can put you in for competitions.

hope this helps.

the number is 02-928-7975

and theres a webiste as well www.kgym.co.kr

hope this helps

That was the number of the place, I remembered it coming on the way here! Laughing It is not too far from where you located, no more than a 10 minute walk! Good luck!

I am sure there is some Muay Thai gyms in Changwon.

I live in Changwon and I am currently Kickboxing. Well its Korean Kickboxing called Kyuk Too Ki. Its a hybrid art similar to Muay Thai, (Yes elbows as well)

I am also now competing in amature fights. My gym is very active in that department. If you want to go hardcore I suggest my gym mainly because the instructor is an ex- PRO with over 45 fights. He was a Korean champion as well. Our gym is small but the instruction is good. I spar a lot so if you want to push your self our gym rocks.

I recently won my first fight with a 2nd Round TKO. I am pretty sure I broke my oponents nose and most likely cracked one of his ribs.

I also have lost 126 pounds. I have never been in a better shape in my life. Ofcourse I also train outside of the gym. Usually 3 hours a day. I have another fight coming up next month on the 17th and this time I want a bonified KO. TKO is nice but KO is better Razz
