I hear tell of programs called "key generators" which allow scoundrels such as yourself to install pirated copies of XP by showing a pile of choices of codes on the screen which you might be able to write down from whichever computer you are using. Of course, I recommend highly against acquiring such programs, especially through Bittorrent sites like isohunt or mininova. I can't condone that kind of illegal activity, and thus you should head to Yongsan and buy yourself a copy.

If you are not paying... you are a pirate, breaking the law. You are not 'sticking' it to bill gates you are not paying for windows cause you are a scoundrel that doesn't want to pay for a product that you want to use.

Now weather you want to be a pirate scoundrel or not... that is up to you. There are plenty on either side of the paying/not paying fence so either way you have company.

It's only about 100k at yongsan but if you are really anti-microsoft... buy a mac.

what he is doing is illegal but it is NOT stealing. i'm not going to defend his actions but your accusations are also somewhat misguided. stealing (or theft) deprives someone of an item or property. digital piracy is definitely illegal and violates a bunch of laws, but stealing is not one of them.

sorry, this is just a pet peeve of mine. i hate it when people confuse intellectual property with actual property.

If you go to Google and enter the appropriate search term and use the logical operator "AND" and the word torrent, you will find a mountain of choices for what your looking for.

Be aware of Keygens, not all of them do what they say and like to install a few extra things along with providing a key. I guess those people want something for all their troubles. But there are working creative solution out there for any problem. As to buying a full version of windows XP at Yonsan for 100,000KRW that is more than likely a downloaded pirated copy put on to authenticate looking packaging material. The full version of XP home is 180 and the full version of XP professional is 280. I am sure you can find the real deal somewhere there for a higher price.

You're a fool if you buy the full version. Buy the OEM/DSP version which is about 80,000 for Home and 130,000 for Pro.

Im not sure if you are arguing literally or not but if you are depriving someone of the money that they would otherwise get from a legal purchase then thats stealing is it not?

anyway, I thought you can only buy an OEM version with hardware purchase. (or do they not care in Korea?)

Didn't mean to start a backlash here--anyway, I happily found my Windows XP and even Office 2003 to boot at Yongsan--I won't say what I paid for it, or where I got it--but I saved me a lot of money and headaches--basically I kind of payed for Windows Visa, since it was preloaded with my laptop I bought new in July. I didn't ask for Windows Vista--Microsoft basically strongarms the computer manufacturers and the consumers by automatically offering it's latest crap whether people prefer it or not--it's not like I can go to Microsoft or even Toshiba (computer maker)and complain and say I want to exchange my software for better "lower: version, right? Whose the real theif, when the software company forces you to accept the so-called better version which has more bugs and runs slower than the older version!

I don't think I committed a major offenses, especially not in Korea where a lot of stealing takes place---the police essentially turn a blind eye to the hundreds of peddlars of "second-hand" and copies of DVD' movies and TV shows, not to mention CDs of modern musicians--so in effect the police are saying go ahead--we don't care! Also, how many foreigners on here do private teaching or go see hookers--all illegal technically? Anyway, I don't lsiten much to foreigners on here--seeing as many on here jsut bitch and when about Korea and Koreans when they could (and should) simply suck it up or go home. Hehe

You can get OEM versions of XP-home from the MICROSOFT kiosk in the terminal building next to Yongsan station (across the railyard actually) and it is only 118k with the OEM version of XP-pro selling for only 164k won.

The only catch is that the OEM copy will only let you do a fresh install and NOT upgrade a prior version.

They will also give you a legal key to validate your version of XP and let you pass the "genuine windows advantage" test.
