I went to China a few years ago and vaguely recall no atms - but I wasn't in Beijing then -

does anyone know?

The new terminal they opened up for the Olympics is amazing, you'll have no trouble finding ATMs or money changers there.

It's been a while since I've been in Beijing, but in the smaller city in China where I live my int'l Visa card works at almost every ATM. I imagine it would be similar in BJ.

The city's changed a lot, so has China in this regard, you should have no problems.

I'm gonna give my K card a try and see if it works - but I have an American one too just in case

I went to Beijing 5 years ago and there were tons of ATMs everywhere that took my US card just fine... I'm sure there are plenty more now! Shouldn't be a problem.

Bring cash... China is very anti credit card... Our ATM card had some low daily withdrawl issues and we found ourselves squirming a bit when we were short of cash.

yeah - I was prepared for that - didn't bring any traveler's checks either - I think they are pretty useless in Asia unless you want to take them to a bank.

btw, my K cc worked fine ! yeah!
