How many days do you usually miss? I have missed only one for being sick and another one which I asked my boss for to go to Seoul and try and get a visa for my GF.

My first year I used 1 sick day. Realized at the end of the contract they weren't going to do me any favors for coming into work sick.

This is my 2nd year at a new school and I've called in sick like 4 times in 3 months. I have 14 sick days and I vow to use every single one of them.

None. I spend a lot of time thinking about which day I want to get out of the most but, man, what if I actually get sick? I've always been prone to getting sick, the lack of it over the last three months is really weird especially since I was expecting to be SICK AS A DOG with the new country and all the filth and the dirty kids. I keep getting a little scratch in my throat or a tiny sniffle and thinking, "ah, here we go..." but it always gets better on its own without getting any worse.

1 in 2 years, and I wasn't sick (it was the day of the NCAA championship game).

I always feel incredibly guilty if I even think about using one, even tho I know I can get away with it easily (I'm at a public school).

I've got 13 left and one month remaining in my contract...I might do one more on a Monday, tho.

None. Though I might have to use some when I'm preparing to go home.

I've never used sick days back home either unless I'm practically on my deathbed. Colds & fevers don't keep me down! I came close to losing my voice this month after inhaling Beijing's pollution. But damn, I had to drink tea and some meds and my throat got all better..

I am just finishing up my first year and I haven't used any sick days. I've missed a total of 3 classes due to confusion with the schedule. At my school, the Korean co-teacher has to cover for us if we get sick, so I would feel pretty bad missing work unless I was near death.

Too many to count. Most of them due to some form of illness, a fraction of which were not even alcohol related.

I'm a bad teacher and a bad person, I know. What can I say?

Your school will never allow you to use your sick days at the end of your contract. You won't get a bonus for not using any of them.

In my first year, I taught through bronchitis, strep throat, and tonsilitis.

This year is different. If I'm sick, I'm taking a sick day.

If you get sick, it's because you don't eat enough rice. (I got told this once.)

In 9 years I've taken 2 sick days twice, & only because I couldnt book needed eye surgeries on the weekend.

I put it down to the health-giving qualities of beer & tobacco.

2.5 legitimate sick days since September.

I'll be needing a free day because I was too myopic last week to go to the Canadian Embassy for CRC stuff.

10 years in and 4 sick days taken. I always negotiate my contracts to have any remaining sick days carry over to the next year. I stack my remaining sick days with my vacation days OR get some financial compensation for not being sick.
