I am considering going and buying one this weekend. Where is the best place to get one (in yongsan)? Also, is it hard to set as the machine is in Japanese?

I've been looking into this too. Word is right now they have Japanese Wii's but not the modchips for the new chipset (D2C). I don't know the exact details myself, but if anyone knows or has been there recently I'd be interested in finding out.

I presume the best place to find them would be the video game alley.

Get off the subway, go out the doors, turn right, go across the bridge, down to the ground floor across the street and on your left leading down into the ground is the place.

Ya, that is my dilema, I dont really want to go just to find out the mod chip is not for the newest version. I want to be sure before I go. Anyone get one recently??

There is a wiikey for the D2C chipset (or whatever D2C is) but it is much harder to install and I had read somewhere on this board that Yongsan didn't have them yet..

i was looking at the specs.. and dont see it being that much harder.. it might have a bit of a learning curve, but basic soldering skills are all that is needed.

The old chip had six connections. The new chip has thirty. Soldering in a 30 pin chip takes some significant soldering skills.

Edit: That and the point was that they don't even have the chips in Yongsan yet (that I've heard of).

How is the Wii? I'm thinking about getting one of these myself, breaking my decade-long self-imposed console ban. I need to change with the times... console games aren't all mindless, pixelated, single-player dumbfests any more.
