Bad pictures. probably wanting to say, we are the same ethnically (same slipper), but think much differently (slipper in opposite direction).
But slippers are complementary. A Left one and a right one. |

the slippers are placed in opposite direction to heighten the notion that she is of an alternative view to the conservative background she came from. The print of the carpet details this. The way the shoes seem to contrast the carpet yet blend in at the same time represents her physical ability to blend into her surroundings but her inability to mentally do the same. |
