Just got an HIV test to day at KHAP near Giruem station on line 4. They were really comfortable and completely anonymous. They do free testing on Sunday's and it only take 20 minutes. The tests are 99% accurate according to them. I was only referred to by a number. They were extremely professional.

Take exit 7 and walk about 1/4 mile until you see SK gas station and they are on the left. You need to make a reservation for Sunday testing and they will give you a number. Their number is 02-927-4322

This is one of the few places that it is safe to get an HIV test as they practice anonymity. But with the new visa regulations, you are going to have to give up your private info if you are on an E-2.

KHAP gives HIV/AIDS tests, but don't give you anything like a piece of paper. At least, normally.

They just tell you orally what the test result is. My school, or the immigration office, wanted a piece of paper, so I showed KHAP my passport, and they printed up an official document saying I was negative. They even put their red ink signature stamp on it.

It was all free. This certainly beats going to an international clinic and paying a hundred thousand won.

I just realized, this clinic is about to get very busy.......which is a shame since employers should be paying for HIV tests (like visa runs). People are going to flock to this place, one of the only places to get a free test, and it's going to kill the clinic.

The place seemed dead when I went there. They have a internet room where there are five or six souped-up computers to use for web browsing.

Negative man, but I was unsure since I never had one before.

Took one at a clinic in the Yongsan area once. The place told me I could call for the results. A few days later I did, and when the nurse got my name, she got all flustered and said, "Wait a minute!" She transferred me to another nurse who was equally flustered while verifying my name.

I began to sweat and sort of freak-out.

Finally, I got a doctor who verified my name again, and said.

"It's positive...."

My heart dropped.

"... that you do not have HIV."

KHAP is funded by the UN and the Korean Lottery. It won't close down anytime soon. There is another one in Ansan with the same hours.

This test will not be acceptable for health check, but I will be going to KHAP first so I know and am not just arrested and thrown on a plane one day.

I get a HIV test done every year with my annual check ups. It cost me 18,000 for everything at a med clinic in Anyang. I got it done last year.
