Going to the US for a month, I can hook up my Korean phone for about 30 cents a minute incoming and 40 cents outgoing.

Anybody ever rent a phone or used a disposable phone? I'll be traveling mostly in the NYC to Philly area.

Thanks for any advice.

Most Korean phones will not work outside of Korea. I heard some Motorola can but not 100% sure on that.

You can get a T-Mobile plan that is about $60 for 300 minutes and 1000 SMS. There might be other things out there, but that is what I am using for my unlocked phone.

I got a prepaid phone for either $9.99 or $19.99 at a Radio Shack. I could put money on it online or by phone. I probably had to show my driver's license, which was in-state but not local.

At that price, and not being attached to the number, I let it expire when I left and will just do it again next time I go back.

This is the service:

It's the same one that Cingular used to offer before AT&T acquired them.
