I'm planning to go somewhere for Lunar New Year next week, but not sure which would be a better option.

To go skiing in Gangwon-do, or sightseeing in Gyeongju. I've never been go to Gyeongju and hear it's really cool, so I'd like to check that out.

Will either of these be bad during this time? Will places be closed down? What about hotel prices in either? Thanks!

kyongju is a great town and has a lot that's worth seeing. but would be better when the weather is nicer. the buses and trains may be full during that time. you may want to ski now and save kyongju for spring.

have fun.
