Tech Forum Folks,
I'm equipped a broadband connection, high powered labtop, and a plantronics digital headset.
Seeking your feedback on which platform Vonage, Skype, or Other is best for those wanting use the Internet for voice and fax.
Aside from stability, I understand there are tradeoffs between these Vendors; stuff like hardware requirements (modem) and 3rd party accessories.
Please help me create a "needs list" so I can get off my lazy ass!
Thanks again |

While Vonage is cleary the better service, I've opted for Skype Out service as its simply cheaper.
For those interested in the Vonage V phone (keychain phone adapter), it's convenient but you'll have to pay about $50 USD in upfront costs and will be charged an additional monthly plan.
Finally a contribution on the Tech forum! |

I have been recently using the magicjack. Cost about $40 and is a usb dongle that plugs into your computer. Gives you a phone number in the states and allows you to call anywhere in North America for free. After the first year it is $20 a year. The dongle has a phone jack on the end of it so you can plug a regular phone right into it. I'm from Canada but got a number in SF where my sister lives. She calls me locally for free. Only U.S. numbers at the moment. Voice quality is very good.

The site is a bit infomercially but the product is great. |
