send it to me? I have all the documents he needs but is there anything that everyone has to do before leaving?
Do I need to go in person to a Korean consulate to get my visa stamped because there are none near Raleigh, NC. Does the employer send me the work visa or is that something I have to do? |

You send the docs to the employer.
They apply for a visa confirmation number from immigration..
They send you the number.
You take the number to the consulate and get the visa put into your passport.
You get on a plane and come to Korea.
With the interview requirement for new applicants it may require you to appear in person at the consulate (depends on the consulate)..
Read the FAQs.

You only have to do it if you want to become an ESL teacher legally.
There is always the option of coming over on a tourist visa, working illegally and hoping that you don't get caught, arrested, held in a detention center, fined and deported.
I came over a long time ago before these restrictions came into effect. You can thank the illegal teachers who worked on tourist visas, worked with forged documents or were pedophiles for the new requirements.
The rest of us still submitted the same documents over time but did manage to avoid the consular interview.
Consular interviews are equal treatment to foreign (E2) visa applicants JUST LIKE the US requires all Koreans to have an interview at the US embassy before they can get ANY entry visa (including a tourist visa).
