|

I URGENTLY need to know if it is still possible under the new regulations to do a visa run to Japan? The company I was suppose to work for folded and I am in Korea with no job and no place to live!! I have found a new job but we are unsure if it is still possible to do a visa run to Japan. HAS ANYONE DONE IT UNDER THE NEW REGULATIONS or does anyone have some insider information? I really want to know so I can take the job and have a place to live.
Thank you for your help. |

I found this on the EPIK website:
Required Documents ...
All applicants will be required to submit the following documents:
A completed application form (including a passport size photo)
A personal essay(minimum 300 words)
Personal medical assessment
Official medical report
Two sealed recommendation letters (from a professor or a former employer)
A copy of your diploma
* show the original diploma at the Korean Consulate/Embassy
Two original sealed transcripts:
1 sealed transcript sent directly from the university to the office you applied (EPIK office or Korean Consulate/Embassy) or a transcript legalized from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your home country with an 'Apostille number and the stamp'.
1 sealed transcript to take with you when applying for E2 visa at the Korean Consulate/Embassy.
Criminal record check
* Applicants applying for E2 visa in Canada must have a 'Vulnerable Sector Search' in the criminal record check.
Copy of passport photo page
(If applicable) Copies of certification (teacher certificate, TESOL, etc)
(If applicable) Proof of teaching/work experience(for details, refer to FAQ)
Copy of citizenship or a copy of legal residence certificate (for Korean nationals)
If you are an ethnic Korean and do not have citizenship but legal residency in a country where English is the primary language, you must be able to provide proof of English education beginning from junior high school level.
The application form, personal essay form, and personal medical assessment form can be downloaded from the EPIK website"

You should check with your recruiter or Korean Immigration, for up to date info on visa runs. Depends on whether this is your 1st E2 visa, (sounds like it isn't), your natiionality, etc. |

Thanks for your very informative reply. It is actually my first time in Korea I was travelling before I came here and was told to wait where I was to go and get my visa at the Korean Consulate of whatever country I would be in at the time my issuance number was released. Nevertheless the company folded and I did not get a visa! I came to Korea because I figured I could look for work and be OK. THen the new regulations came into affect and no one seems to know if I can do a Japan run. I have everything I need with me to get the visa I just don't know if I can get it in Japan. I am in Busan so the ferry should be an easy way to get there if it is still legit. I just want to know if it is LEGIT or not under the new regulations!?!?!?! |
