Hi all!

I have one quick question hopefully someone will have the answer. I will be going to Korea in September but want to do my visa in May since I will be leaving USA around May to June. Is it possible to do the visa (or the consulate interview) several months early?

You didn't say whether it was an E-2, 90-day visa or what kind of visa.
E-2 has a definite date to be there by..hence, a certain time frame..usually short notice from the school ..to get your docs to the consulate. An E-2 visa has a piece of paper stapled in the passport on the opp page of your visa usually..barring room, of course, which requires you to go to Immigration within the 90 days to get your ARC...schools require it immediately....no insurance...or bank account..until you have your ARC. Therefore, the urgency to get that done expeditiously is in your vested interest.

A 90-day visa issued by the consulate can be used anytime within that year..but not going over 90 days after the year date. You must complete your travel to and out of Korea by the year ending for the tourist visa..

C-4 visa is for a camp...hence, same applies as the E-2 requirements..time limit to get there and begin work.

Sorry I was talking about E-2. I didn't know if you can get the E-2 Visa for August / Septmeber a head of time. Thank you for the information.

Short answer to your question is, "No, it is NOT possible to get a visa in May for a job starting in Septemter."

If your school is on the ball and hires you more than 90 days early you can get your visa up to 90 days before your job starts.

Be aware that most schools hire ASAP with as little as 30 days notice.

After you get the visa in your passport it MUST be used for the initial entry within 90 days or it will expire.

Right on the info you just go. Tourist visa is way different...thought you meant that since you were talking about months ahead...good luck.
